The product, in the report: American Standard - Saver “Shower/Tub” glass safety doors

On the 14th of August I was finishing up taking a shower. I had gotten out of the tub/shower combo drying off. Simply said the shower doors seemed to explode with no associated causal factor. (I.E. Nothing hit the doors, I was not moving the doors, simply out of the blue). The door shattered into 1000 pieces. I had to go to hospital as I stepped on glass and cut my foot. I was also cut dozens of other times by tiny pieces of glass. (Very small cuts...but I only point this out as some of the glass seemed to vaporize.) I contacted the company to report the incident. They sent me several emails that basically said that the doors we probably damaged at some point and I would not necessarily “see” the chip that caused the break. The explanation the American Standard provided is actually quite bizarre and to me makes no sense. I later discovered on the LOWES website that other people have had this same type of incident occur. (There is actually one review with photos that look exactly like what happened to me...that post was in 2014). In short I thought that response from the company was preposterous....they offered me new shower doors and I told them that was not what I wanted....I wanted them to look into the safety of the doors and they never wrote back.

The doors are American Standard - Saver Doors. They were purchased in 2014 at Lowes in Pokomoke Maryland by my father-in law. (I bought my house from my in-laws)

This sliding bathtub door suddenly EXPLODED last evening. I just checked out reviews on the Lowes website where we bought the product and discovered that this is a recurring problem. Completely shocked. Thank goodness no one was hurt.

The product, in the report: American Standard Door (ASD) saver tub door.

We purchased ASD Saver tub door ( glass shower doors) November 14, 2013 from Lowes, Bridgeport, WV . They were installed on or about the same day. On June 29, 2015, my children and my husband was home, when my children heard a weird sound (a loud growling). They perceived that it was the cats. They then heard glass shattering. They went and found the stationary glass door was partially shattered on the bathroom floor, with half still attached to the shower. No one was near the bathroom with the glass shower door exploded. We have children who use this shower daily and thankfully no one was in the shower when this occurred. Very disappointed there are products especially glass shower doors that are able to explode. We assumed these were safe to use around children and pets.
