The product, in the report: RY907022FI

I bought a Ryobi RY907022FI generator based on the recommendation of [REDACTED]. I purchased the generator through Home Depot. When I started assembling the generator I ran across a manufacturing defect in step 3 where you attach the positive red cable to the battery. Per the assembly diagram the positive cable has another red wire bound with it and they are supposed to come around the front of the battery to be attached. The unit I received the second red wire was too short to be attached in this manner. The only way to attach it was over the top of the battery. The second red wire was so short that if you attached the cables the second red wire was snug against the housing of the generator. I consider this a safety defect since the housing will get hot and eventually melt the plastic covering of the wire. The wire will then come in direct contact with the housing. I don’t know what will happen if that happens. Hopeful the unit will just short out and stop operating. I called Ryobi and they said to just return the item and reorder it. Home Depot picked up the defective unit and I reordered the exact same model. The second unit came with the same manufacturing defect.
