  1. No one hurt

Made Jan 22, 2017, sent to the company Feb 8, 2017, published by CPSC Mar 2, 2017

The product, in the report: Sauder 4 drawer Storybrook Dresser

We purchased the Sauder Storybook 4 drawer dresser for my 3 year old daughter’s room in February 2016. We installed it correctly and used the manufacturer anchor on the dresser to anchor it the wall. This morning, the anchor failed and my daughter pulled the dresser down. Somehow she managed to get out of the way and was unharmed. Still, the anchor should not have failed.

The product, in the report: L-Desk(August Hill Collection) manufactured by Sauder Woodworking Co Model number 412320 Lot number 364104

I purchased an office desk for home use In March 2015. Soon thereafter I started having respiratory issues and sore throat, prompting visits to doctor and hospital Finally, In February, 2016, a series of air quality tests were conducted in and around my apartment In my senior housing complex. Tests showed that formaldehyde concentration was very high In my apartment but not elsewhere In complex. Additional testing showed that the formaldehyde was coming from the office desk. The desk was removed from my apartment and I was moved to a nearby hotel while my apartment was deep cleaned, clothing washed/aired, etc. After cleaning, further air quality tests were conducted In and around my apartment and Indicated that air quality was at acceptable level of formaldehyde. The desk manufacturer has been contacted and presented with an accounting similar to the forgoing along with an itemized list of cost incurred for medical, air testing, living relocation, movers, and purchase price of desk. The Maine Attorney General has acted as my agent. It Is my understanding, that the desk manufacturer denies using formaldehyde impregnated materials In their desks, will reimburse me for purchase price of desk. pay the medical bills If I can supply them with the “proper codes”, but. will not pay for any other costs that arose from their desk fouling my living space with such a pernicious carcinogen.
