The product, in the report: Printer’s desk from Pottery Barn

In January 2012 I purchased the Printer’s desk from Pottery Barn. I noticed right away that something was volatilizing off of the desk. The bedroom where the desk is located had such a strong odor that we could no longer use the room. I tried opening windows, baking soda in the drawers, air filters in the room, and even putting house plants in the room to filter the air. I love the desk size and design and really hoped the odor would dissipate

Last Sun I could not avoid working at the computer on this desk any longer. I spent 45 min working on taxes. In that time my throat started to ache, my eyes started to burn and even my face stared to burn. After this I called Pottery Barn and demanded they take thy desk back. They agreed and said I would be contacted on Monday. I have not yet heard from them.

I am a PhD Organic chemist. I have worked in college and industrial labs for many years and have never had such an acute reaction to a chemical. It is clear that the coating or resin is not adequately cured and VOCs are being released. I am really afraid to find out what the voc’s are.

I just want this desk out of my house before we really get sick. Please warn others to be ware of this issue.

    Thank you.
