The product, in the report: iWave portable laptop desk with light
Product is an iWave Portable Laptop Desk. It has an enclosed battery pack, powered by 3 AA batteries, powering a small LED light on the desk.
Child had the device on her lap when it started to heat up and burn her leg. I opened the unit to find the battery compartment melted. The 3 batteries were all new [REDACTED] and only had surface damage from the heat, ruling out a failure on the batteries.
Found the import tag inside. Contacted that company, and they deny the item was imported by their company. The say it is 100% fraud.
The item was sold by Kohl’s, a national department store. Likely in mass quantities in the Fall of 2015.
