How badly anyone was hurt

  • No incident, no one hurt 1 CPSC: No Incident, No Injury

As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No incident, no one hurt

Made Oct 1, 2026, sent to the company Oct 7, 2026, published by CPSC Oct 29, 2026

The product, in the report: Flip-top Storage Chest Bench Large Wooden Kids Toy Box with Pneumatic Rod

During normal, intended assembly according to manufacturer instructions, the pre-drilled holes for the structural side fasteners were found to be excessively loose and improperly bored from the factory. As a result, the anchoring hardware failed to catch or hold, causing the entire structural side panel to pull completely apart from the main frame (see attached photo showing exposed dowels and separating side wall).

Because this item is marketed and intended for use as a seating bench and storage chest for KIDS, this structural failure creates an immediate, severe collapse and crush hazard. If an adult or child were to sit on this bench, the unit would collapse under load, risking serious physical injury.

When I reported this severe structural hazard to Target customer support, the representative refused to view photographic proof, instructed me to endanger friends or family members to force disassembly and repackaging of the compromised furniture, and abruptly hung up the call/chat. The merchandise contains a dangerous manufacturing defect and should be investigated for recall.
