The product, in the report: DVR box Purchase date: October 2013

Caller stated the Dish Network DVR emits an odor which is toxic and caused him to develop health problems such as dizziness, respiratory problems, nausea, etc. (5/30/14) He received medical attention and was diagnosed of viral bronchitis. This has been ongoing for almost a year. (6/2014) The box was replaced but that did not resolve the issue. He was informed by an agent that the unit overheats and produces a carbon odor. It does not matter if there is a fan blowing on the unit. (2013) He contacted the service provider as soon as he started experiencing problems with the unit. The unit blows out a carbon smell when it overheats from the fan inside the DVR box. He does this when the dust builds up inside the unit. So turning off & unpluging unit is the only option.

Caller stated that he unplugged the unit 7/2/14 because he is concerned about his health and that this is unsafe. Tech Dish employee stated caller’s DVR Dish box does the same thing on 09-29-2014. Tech ID: [REDACTED] : VAN [REDACTED]
