The product, in the report: Singing Machine SML-383 Black Karaoke Machine
My daughter received a Singing Machine SML-383 Karaoke machine from Amazon. The unit was made in China with a date of October 2012.
Within minutes of plugging the item in, the unit was smoking and sparking and the room smelled like an electrical fire. The unit continued to work, but I unplugged it immediately and the back was very hot and smoky smelling.
I checked the reviews on Amazon and 20 other people have the same issues with the units catching on fire and sparking. I tried to contact the manufacturer and they have not returned phone calls or email.
