The product, in the report: Insignia NS-SB20S Mini Soundbar. Color Black. Remote control included. Length approximately 20 inches. Connected to TV by a 4-foot optical cable. I retuned the soundbar to Best Buy for a refund and do not have it any more.
I bought an Insignia Model NS-SB20S Mini Soundbar at Best Buy in Panama City, FL. I hooked up the soundbar to my [REDACTED] TV. The connection from the TV to the soundbar was made using an optical cable. I plugged the soundbar into a standard AC electrical outlet. There were no other connections to the soundbar. I read the instructions that came with the soundbar. I attempted to program the remote control that came with the soundbar. I was having trouble getting the remote control to control the soundbar. Later I would be told by an Insignia customer service representative that the soundbar remote does not control the soundbar from more than three feet away. I turned the TV and soundbar off. The following morning I turned on my Insignia stereo. The Insignia stereo operated at an extreme and dangerous volume. The stereo was turned up to the highest volume setting without me knowing . The sudden and excessive sound caused me to fall. I skinned up both of my knees badly. I was lucky that I did not break a bone or suffer more serious injuries. I am 63 years old. I called Insignia customer service. The customer service agent told me the soundbar and the stereo operate at the same frequency. In now way did I do anything or intend to program the soundbar remote control to operate the stereo volume. The instructions that came with the soundbar have no warning or explanation about the possibility of this happening. This is an extremely dangerous arrangement. The two devices should not be operating on the same frequency. I hope my experience prevents this from happening to someone else. Respectfully Submitted [REDACTED]
