The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: iHome Audio iH8 iPod dock, silver.

I have an iHome iH8 iPod docking station made by iHome Audio in Rahway, NJ. The unit is about a year and a half old. The power adapter has been plugged in without incident since we moved several months ago and has not been moved or touched since then. Today, I went to move the docking station. As I went to unplug the adapter, I noticed that the plastic had split apart and the wires and components inside were exposed. I cut the power to the outlet and removed the adapter from the outlet. When I tried to put it back together, it wouldn’t go back down since the parts inside had swollen from the heat.

I have never had a power adapter do this before, and it doesn’t seem like it would be safe.
