The product, in the report: 58” Westinghouse Roku television. Model number WR58UX4019.

Possible fire hazard. I purchased a Westinghouse Roku television February 2021. Turned my TV on yesterday and the screen had nothing but vertical and horizontal lines. Then I noticed in the lower left corner a there was a small mark that looks like it melted. On the screen and the frame.

The product, in the report: Westinghouse 32 inch television, model WD32HB1120-C

I mounted the Westinghouse 32 inch television (WD32HB1120-C) on a wall mount as instructed. About three weeks later I found that the television had broken off the mount. No event triggered the failure. The way the mount screws into television is only by way of the back plastic cover of the television. The screws do not extend into the television chassis. The thin plastic back of this model television is not robust enough to hold up the television on a mount and represents a hazard of falling.

The product, in the report: 46” Black Television with stand/base and remote control sold during Target Stores Black Friday 2014 (approximately)

The television has been in the same location since it was unpackaged and setup. The television is free standing (not wall mounted) using the factory supplied base included within the original retail box. The television has been atop a multimedia cabinet utilizing 100% of the factory supplied hardware and stand/base. There are no items that contact the television or the base. There have been no instances where the television was impacted, abused, mishandled etc.

My wife was on the opposite side of the living room when the failure occurred. She recalls hearing a series of plastic breaking sounds, which drew her attention to the direction of the television. Immediately after hearing these sounds, she screamed as she witnessed the television fall forward onto our toddlers playpen area. Thank goodness, our toddler son and I were in the other room. The corner in which the television fell is where he likes to stand.

Inspection of the breakage reveals manufacturers defects/casting flaws/insufficient support. This was an extremely popular item sold on Black Friday and is in numerous households across America. I contacted the manufacturer, ([REDACTED]) and was routed to their international call center where I asked to speak to someone from their corporate offices - I was told the item is out of warranty and that no assistance could be given as the item is out of warranty. I explained that regardless of warranty status, this is a valid safety concern. I was told I would receive a return call in the future. I have not received a call back at this time.

The product, in the report: Westinghouse 32 inch HDTV

I was smelling a very strange smell in my bedroom, at first I thought it was coming from my ceiling fan. It smelled like an electronic burning smell almost like leather but a burning smell. Well a day later I had my HDTV on and the smell was eroding from the vents at the top of the t.v. I have since unplugged it, I was afraid it would catch on fire. The smell was so strong it mad me feel nauseous and gave me a bad headache. Had I left the t.v. plugged in and on I think it would have for sure caught on fire. I purchased this t.v. probably back in 2008 but it’s not played all that much.

The product, in the report: TV Base

Caller stated that while watching the 46” HD TV for a few mins, she was a good distance away from it, heard a crack and then noticed that the base broke and the TV fell onto her hardwood floor. The TV damaged her floor where it fell, she does not know of the estimated damages as yet.

2/24/14 The manufacturer was contacted and she was informed that there was nothing that could be done.

2/26/14 She contacted the manufacturer again and was told that someone would call her back, its been 2 days and she had not heard from anyone.

Caller feels that the base of the TV is a safety hazard and should be reported.

Update 5/12/14 Westinghouse agreed to send a new TV- had to send old TV back to them. Replacement arrived 5/12/14.

The product, in the report: Westinghouse Digital 46 inch TV Model #VR-4625

We bought from Target in Virginia Beach, VA a 46 in Westinghouse TV Model # VR-4625 at last years (2011) Black Friday Sale. About a month ago my wife came home from work and found the TV laying on the carpet. It seems the stand that came with it, broke in half. We did not have it mounted to the wall only the stand that came with it when we bought the TV. It is or make that it was not located in direct sunlight nor any thing attached to it. After researching online to see if others have experience this type of breakage we contacted Target, no luck after 90 days warranty and then Westinghouse.....there answer was to send the entire TV back, but we have to pay. No way, dangerous and deffective product. What if it fell on a child!

My mother was a victim of a fire caused by a malfunction of this TV. The TV was plugged in, and energized, however it was in the “off” position. No operating defincies were noted in the TV prior to the fire. This device in my particular fire caused the fire to severly damage a large home, and completely destroy the room the tv was in. According to a basic [REDACTED] search of Westinghouse TVs, I was able to find that many other consumers of this device have posted reviews on the internet about the fire hazard caused by this device. Because of the multiple reviews indicating a fire hazard, and as evidenced by my fire, the severity of the hazard, it seems that an investigation into this product should be initiated.
