No one hurt Made Feb 22, 2026, sent to the company Feb 26, 2026, published by CPSC Mar 12, 2026
The product, in the report: TCL TV, 4-Series Stunning Picture, Black Roku TV, Model: 55S403, SN: 1808GTC003337A00713
On 2/22/2026, while watching TV (normal use), my TCL 55S403 made a loud pop sound, and I saw sparks come from the back of the unit. This incident was captured on my in-home security camera. This is extremely concerning and represents a serious fire and safety hazard. I was fortunate to be home when it happened, and I am deeply worried about what could have occurred if I had not been present. I would also like to know whether I should be concerned about my other TCL television and any additional TCL products in my home.
No one was injured and luckily the only damage was to the TV.

No one hurt Made Jan 18, 2026, sent to the company Jan 21, 2026, published by CPSC Feb 10, 2026
The product, in the report: 65 television
This television was purchased less than one year ago for use in my home. It was mounted on my living room wall. I live alone. I was sweeping in my basement on 11/22/2025 and heard a loud noise from upstairs. I went up the steps to find that the face of this huge television had essentially fallen forward off of the rest of the unit in my living room. I am so thankful that no one was standing by it when the face of it fell. The company has been contacted. They initially claimed I caused the damage. I disputed this. They requested additional photos. I sent a full video and they went dark. This could be tragic for anyone with children.

No one hurt Made Dec 22, 2022, sent to the company Dec 28, 2022, published by CPSC Jan 12, 2023
The product, in the report: 55” TCL television, roku smart TV
Fire hazard with my TCL television. The company appears to be aware of a widespread issue. I was watching TV with my family when we heard a loud pop, sparks jumped out of the bottom right side of my TV and the screen went black. When I approached to ensure that nothing had caught fire, I smelled burning plastic. I immediately unplugged the television from both the power source and the cable box. When I called TCL, they told me that it was “a hardware issue,” and they quickly offered to send out a repair man with replacement parts. The repair man came and replaced two parts, which he described as a power card and a computer card. I asked if he had ever seen this issue before, and he said “Oooooo yes,” he had made the same repair on many other TCL TVs. Even with the fix, should I trust that this TV will not start a fire in my home?

No one hurt Made Dec 29, 2021, sent to the company Jan 3, 2022, published by CPSC Jan 18, 2022
The product, in the report: 65” TCL Roku TV Serial No. 1804GTC002772A00178; Service NO 65S517LAAA
It was Sunday, December 26th, 2021. I was sitting with my husband and children watching a movie. All of sudden, we hear a loud pop and then the TV starts throwing sparks! We turned it off immediately and unplugged it. I called the company TCL. They said they would respond in 24 hrs. They didn’t. I called back the next day at 3pm. They said they would definitely respond within 24 hrs. They didn’t. I figured they’d never respond so we put the TV out with the trash on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday, they finally called back at 7pm ET. They said they wouldn’t do anything because we put the TV out with the trash. Shouldn’t they at least inspect a TV that started randomly throwing sparks after someone has owned it for three years? This doesn’t seem right. How many other Roku TVs out there have this problem now and will start fires in someone else’s home????

No one hurt Made Jul 20, 2017, sent to the company Oct 31, 2017, published by CPSC Nov 15, 2017
The product, in the report: TCL ROKU 32in
I bought this tv 3/17 and it’s 7/17. Four months I’ve had this tv and it’s been watched for about 20 hours. It’s not been exposed to sunlight, has not been against a wall or anything. Yet, I check my tv yesterday and realize there is black sticky goo on the back of it. Upon closer inspection it looks like my TV caught fire and the plastic is melting off the TV.
