The product, in the report: Philips 75 Class QLED 4K UHD Smart TV (Model: 75PQL7456/F7)
I purchased a brand new Philips 75 inch QLED 4K Smart TV from Walmart. When I unboxed it and touched the back of the TV, I received a strong electric shock that caused pain radiating up my arm to my shoulder, lasting approximately 10 minutes. The TV was never connected to any power source at the time of the shock. I used an electrical tester on the TV which confirmed it was emitting electricity even while unplugged. The shock and electrical reading persisted over an extended period of time, indicating a serious manufacturing defect. I have video evidence of the electrical tester detecting current on the unplugged TV. I contacted Walmart customer service who acknowledged the defect but only offered a 10% partial refund ($39.80) on a $430 product despite the safety hazard and physical injury caused.

The product, in the report: Philips 42” Plasma TV (Brand: Philips, Model: 50PF9830A/37, Serial: AG 1A0527 100280)
I am reporting an unsafe TV (Brand: Philips, Model: 50PF9830A/37, Serial: AG 1A0527 100280) which was recalled on March 16th , 2006 (Alert# 06-536). The TV is a fire hazard based on the information outlined in the recall. I’ve attempted to contact Philips (800-235-7000) and was told that they no longer support this TV. I explained that they have a legal obligation to fix it, but was simply told they would not do anything. I’ve asked for the representative’s supervisor name and contact but was told that they cannot provide this information as defined in their internal work practice. I argued that work practices are more along the line of guidelines (different than policies) but could not get any additional information before the representative rudely hung up on me when asked for the referenced work practice’s name. I have this TV in my home, it is a fire hazard and Philips has simply ignored my request for recall. No injuries have yet occurred but there is a higher pitch noise coming from the ambient lighting (the exact root cause of the issue) indicating a potential and imminent risk with severe impact.

The product, in the report: Philips tv model # 47PFL3603D/27 Serial # YAC1C0814011566 I do not know exact date of manufacture
Philips tv model # 47PFL3603D/27 Serial # YAC1C0814011566 My tv caught fire Saturday morning Apr 8, 2017. As I was watching tv i noticed smoke coming from the TV and the picture began cutting in and out, next thing I knew there was a fire coming up from the top of the tv 2-3 inches high.
I quickly jumped up and unplugged it from the wall and the fire went out. If I was not there to catch this, it easily could have caused a fire in my house or worse even injury to someone if this was not caught quickly.
I then though it would be prudent to notify Philips to inform them of the issue, so this would not happen to others. I wrote several emails back and forth with Philips Customer service. They asked for additional pictures which I sent and in result they told me the tv failed in a safe manner. I told them I could still turn on the tv and It would still smoke and something internal would turn bright orange and begin to flame. I informed them that I would love to send them the tv for evaluation. They didn’t want to see it, basically told me I was over-reacting and that it failed in safe manner. It bothers me when someone is willing to send a faulty product to someone for evaluation and they did not even care to see it.
This needs to be made to the attention of someone as this could have been a very serious situation if the tv was on and I was not around to pull the power. Someone could have been seriously injured or possibly died and my house could have burned down if it caught anything else on fire. Others need to be notified as well, and apparent to this website, my model tv, several others have reported that this tv has started fire on them as well. Please investigate and let me know if you need any additional information from me as well. I could also forward the emails back and forth with them.
Thank you!
It is also would be prudent to warn others of a potential fire hazard with this model tv.

The product, in the report: Philips 50PF9630A/37 50” Flat panel plasma TV with ambient light feature
When the ambient light feature of my TV is turned on I hear an electrical buzzing sound for a few moments then TV powers off. TV will not power on but the power light blinks in a certain pattern. If I unplug TV and wait a while before plugging back in it will operate again until the ambient light feature is turned on again. I have been dealing with this problem for years by nit using the ambient light feature but other people use the TV and often engage the ambient light feature from the remote control which causes the electric surging sound and power outage again. It has been a total hassle and everyone who uses the TV and sees it fail believe Philips products are inferior.
Since the outage has been happening more often, sometimes now without even using the ambient light feature, I searched for info and discovered this model is recalled. However the serial number range which is rather extensive stops one number (or one production week) before my serial number so Philips isn’t discussing recall with me. I believe this product is unsafe electrically and should be inspected since it exhibits the exact concern related to the recall. There is no doubt this item should be included in the recall which would extend the recall production inclusion.

The product, in the report: Phillips Television 47 inch model # 47PFL7403D-27 and Serial # YA1C0827014077
On Friday 5/13/2016 I was upstairs while my children were watching television in my living room. As I was coming downstairs I smelled a strong burning smell. I sat down and couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. Finally my wife came into the room and noticed the television was smoking and sparking. My wife immediately ran over and unplugged the television. I looked a the back of the television where it was sparking and I noticed it was sparking. I feel very strongly that if I hadn’t been nearby my home could have caught fire and on top of that it left my house with a horrible smell for approximately 24 hours. I feel as though I should be compensated for this issue.

The product, in the report: Philips TV (model 42TA648BX/37, serial YA1C0814018862)
Gentlemen:
I have a Philips TV (model 42TA648BX/37, serial YA1C0814018862).
Last Saturday I turned the TV on at about 9:00am. In less than 10 minutes smoke was coming out of the rear vent holes. Looking through the vent holes I could see one of the circuit boards was flaming.
CPSC---You need to investigated. A quick check of the web found two other cases of fires with Philips TVs (see the attached from your safer product site). I also saw one product recall with respect to Philips and TV fires.
UL/CSA---The TV was UL-C listed under E10839. You need to improve your safety standards. In my opinion there is no excuse for a TV to flame.
Walmart---I bought the TV at my local Sam’s Club. I note that you are still selling Philips. I would recommend you investigate the fire hazards with the Philips televisions to see if they are a type of product you should be selling in your stores.
I will keep the TV several weeks should anyone wish to inspect it.
The submitter added he sent a letter to the manufacturer at 64 Perimeter Center East, Atlanta, GA, 30346, and the Post Office returned it saying “no such street”. The product, in the report: Tempered glass TV base
While sleeping in a hotel room ,the tempered glass base of a Philips TV exploded around 1:45 am. Prior to the incident, the TV was on only for 20 minutes and it was cut off at 8 pm. It was a very loud explosion that woke me up. The debris field had radius of ~ 12 feet. There were hundreds of pieces of glass. The TV did not appear to be damaged. This was a spontaneous explosion in the middle of the night with no warning. The safety hazard is obvious. I now know that similar episodes have been reported in past. The public needs to be warned.

Hurt, no treatment Made Feb 2, 2014, sent to the company Feb 10, 2014, published by CPSC Feb 26, 2014
The product, in the report: Philips Television Model 37pfl5332d/37
We purchased a Philips Flat Screen television, model 37PFL5332D/37. Some months later, the television began to emit smoke and flames from just behind the upper right side of the viewing screen. We phoned Philips and they said it was two months out of warranty and there was nothing they could do about it. We had no idea the set was out of warranty! They were very rude and quite adamant that the product was out of warranty and wanted nothing more to do about it. I told them we didn’t have the money for a disposable $1,200 television and they, again, said it was out of warranty and there was nothing they could or WOULD do about it.
We had the television repaired at a Philips-approved repair facility for nearly $300 and it worked great.
However, last night, the same exact problem occurred in the exact same place on the television. We are several years out of warranty, but my concern is that this piece of electronics that we invested in is now a smoking and burning pile of junk. Again, Philips wants do to NOTHING to help us, and we feel this is not only poor customer service, but a complete and total lack of ethics as this issue is a KNOWN problem with one of their products and they are blithely doing nothing about it.
When the television caught on fire last night, the entire house VERY QUICKLY filled with a very noxious odor and my entire family began coughing horribly.
This is not not right and could end up costing a family their lives if the television were to catch on fire after they’ve left the house or gone to bed. This is a complete and total disregard for not only consumers, but individuals for greed and profit.

The product, in the report: 47” Phillips TV with a glass base
My three year old Phillips 47” TV glass base exploded all over my room. I was watching tv and all the sudden a loud bang and glass flying. I checked and removed my dog from the room and came back to see just what had exploded because the TV was playing perfectly. I looked down while examining the tv and saw that the glass base was missing and pieces on the table and all over the room. Phillips has not been helpful. They offered me $100. The area rug that had to be thrown out because of little glass shards was worth $500. They offered no help in finding a new base or offering to pay for wall mounting.

The product, in the report: Philips LCD TV 47PFL3603D/27 Full HD 1080p
I purchased a Philips 47” LCD HD TV in August 2009 from Wal-Mart (Model # 47PFL3603D/27. During the last 6 months the TV’s picture would black out. When this occured, I could feel the heat coming from the unit, so I would turn the TV off for 5-10 minutes, let it cool, and then turn it back on. This problem would happen several times per week and I began to worry about it catching on fire and harming my house. Eventually, this problem got much worse, when the unit began smoking profusely this july. You could see sparks from behind the tv on the top right. I turned the TV off and have removed the unit from our family room. I have since contacted Philips and they act like this problem doesn’t exist at all. A quick google search and even checking reviews on amazon show this problem is huge, and many consumers are dealing with it.
As a concerned consumer, and parent, I feel obligated to share this potential fire risk with your organization with the hope that others will be alerted and avoid potential injury or death.
Should you need any additional information, please contact me via [REDACTED]. I will keep contacting Philips, and leaving posts on other forums until i get a proper response.

The product, in the report: 42” Philips TV; Model No. 42p fl 3704d/f7; Serial No. yaza0947013279
I bought a 42” Philips television just under 2 years ago. We use cable and it appeared that something was wrong with our service. Our cable provider sent out a technician to investigate. He went behind the television, touched the input piece and was blown back. It made a loud bang and blew him back. He received a bad shock which hurt his arm. Large amounts of electricity were being emitted from the input piece. He tested the input with a voltmeter and it read off the chart. He said that TVs have a safety mechanism in them that keeps this from happening. Not only did the main board fail, but so did the safety mechanism. This is a serious safety issue. I called Philips, but they had no comment.

Bought a Philips 47” LCD HD TV in 2008 from Wal-Mart Model # 47PFL3603D/27 and Serial # YA1C0819013266) and began having problems in 2012. The TV’s picture is blacked out but sound works, yesterday while my son was watching TV , white smoke started to billow out of the top right corner. Having researched this Philips TV I came across a thread with over 100 similar complaints of no picture but sound works and smoke coming from the TV. See: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/home_electronics/philips.html and

The product, in the report: Silver casing, side mounted speakers, 1080i max screen output @ 60hz. 42 “ plasma, firmware update feature via USB that did not work previous to the screen going blank/arcing/sparks incident.
Watching television ... massive blue light and cracking sound from the back of the television. Picture turns off immediately, sound keeps coming through.
No other electronics in the house were affected.
Television screen then goes blank - picture turned off ?, and the usual green LED was now red and blinking. I downloaded the online PDF manual for this television and found that the television was giving out 7 blinks of the LED. Looked online and found many users of the same Phillips branded Plasma television were having their televisions fail. There was arcing inside the television. I can only imagine if someone had been touching the television when this occurred, and what could have happened.
I had attempted a firmware update via the USB port from the company’s (Phillips) website, before the arcing and screen became inoperative. The update had been attempted just a few weeks before the big problems arose. We only used the USB and software and the television set had never been opened tp that point.
My televisions information is as follows:
Phillips 42” 16:9 Plasma Television Manufacturer date of: September 2005 Serial # YA1A0535049863 Model # 42 PF7320A/37 Country of Manufacture: Mexico Chassis code: BP2.3U AA
There is a recall page I found for AMBILIGHT features on the same generation of television, my television does not fall within the date and serial numbers they provide here: http://tv.about.com/od/manufacturers/a/ambilightrecall.htm http://tv.about.com/gi/o.htm?zi=1/XJ&zTi=1&sdn=tv&cdn=gadgets&tm=31&f=11&su=p284.13.342.ip_p504.5.336.ip_&tt=2&bt=1&bts=1&st=11&zu=http%3A//www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml06/06536.html

The product, in the report: Phillips Flat Screen T.V.
In 2009 we purchased a Phillips Flat Screen T.V. from our local Wal-Mart we paid over $100.00 for it. It functioned fine for about a year. Just after the warranty ran out in 2011, August we began experiancing problems. The set would turn off just after turning on, when it did come on a shreek sound would be heard and often it would show half a picture. I was working in the kitchen one morning when I could something electronic burning. When I turned the set was smoking. The set had been turned off at the time. I immediatly un-plugged the set and removed it from the room.
I notified Phillip’s and was quickly told that the warranty had expired and they wiuld replace or have it fixed at my own expense. Replaced incadentally with a refurbished set. I explained that there were grave safety issues with there product. They told me no one has ever complained and there products were first rate. More B.S. they hand out! I went on the net and found a complaint site pertaining to Phillips, including complaints about simular T.V.’s to mine.
I contacted the Georgia Atty. Generals Office and they sent me back a letter that the company no longer was in that state. I contacted the Atty. Generals Office here in Penna. I sent the complaint to the Consumer’ branch and was told it was out of there jurisdiction yet the products are being sold in Penna. to Penna. Citizens.
Something has to be done with this company, according to the complaint forum injuries and property damage has already have occured. Now the light bulbs they produce are being recalled for safety issues. How many more items will it take to take action against Phillips. I was told several other electronic items under various names are manufactured by Phillips as well.
