The product, in the report: MOTOROLA CABLE BOX
On October 20, 2012 while watching the South Carolina vs Florida football game the Motorola Cable box supplied by Comcast caught on fire. My daughter was upstairs and mentioned she smelled smoke. My husband was in the kitchen and when he walked into the family room he saw the cable box burst into flames. My husband quickly unplugged the box and the fire went out.
The cable box and a computer were plugged into a surge protector that was plugged into an outlet.
We contacted comcast cable customer service and their only concern was sending us another box and trying to place the blame on us.
There is no problem with our electrical system, Both the outlet and the surge protector are still being using and there have been no problem with any other electronics bursting into flames
