The product, in the report: Haier 42 inch LE42B1380 TV
We have a Haier LE42B1380 that fell due to the stand cracking. While plugging a cable into the rear of the TV, the TV toppled over, but luckily, we were able to catch it.
The TV was about 5 feet off the ground, and this could have caused significant injury if it hit someone.

No one hurt Made Feb 7, 2013, sent to the company Feb 15, 2013, published by CPSC Mar 4, 2013
The product, in the report: 42” 1080p LED Edge Lit LCD HDTV
The plastic cuff connecting my Haier 42” TV to its base failed. I was watching TV from the couch when the plastic cuff forcefully broke into pieces in front of my eyes, ripping out the screws connecting the TV to the base. The TV toppled over and fell onto the ground, damaging one corner but otherwise still functional. The stand itself did not move an inch. The cuff was in pieces about the floor. Nothing was touching the TV at the time.
The weak plastic of the cuff is not strong enough to support the weight of the TV. A falling TV could cause injury.

The product, in the report: 42” LCD Television
The consumer says that last night she heard a loud crack. Her kids said the TV fell on the floor. When she asked her children what happened, they told her it just fell.
Upon inspecting the TV, the consumer says she saw the stand was split in half. She says that if it had fallen on her children, they could have been seriously injured. She saw two reports on Amazon.com of the same thing occurring.
The consumer contacted the manufacturer who told her they cant help her since the issue is not with the TV. They told her it was cosmetic damage. The representative she spoke to said that they would have a manager contact her back.
