How badly anyone was hurt

  • No one hurt 2 CPSC: Incident, No Injury

As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Office Max Paper Shredder Model OMO4226, Serial Number FDG02204967

I was using a paper shredder and while doing so the shredder exploded and caught on fire burning the shredded paper inside of the paper holder. The shredder is a fire hazard and should be taken off the market. The shredder is an Office Max Model OMO4226, serial number FDG02204967.

The product, in the report: Office Max Micro Cut Paper Shredder, model number OM02750. Specifications: -Shred type: Micro-Cut; - Shred Width: 5/32”x25/64”; - Shredding Capacity: 10 sheets - Feed Opening: 8 5/8” - Weight: 18.3 lbs Input: 115 volt AC, 6 amp

I purchased an Office Max Micro Cut Paper Shredder, model number OM02750. I purchased it on 6/14/10 in Charlotte, NC. The shredder will not turn off, after it finishes shredding. Called the 1-800 number, given these instructions: unplug, take out the wastebasket, wait 30 minutes, clean sensor with dry Q-tip, replace wastebasket, wait 15 seconds, press “reverse” button. And it should be fine, that option didn’t work. Instead, it works for a moment, turning itself on and off. So when I want to use it, I must turn it on and then when I am finished turn it off. Second option was to take it to my local repair service center at my cost and get it fixed. I think the company/manufacturer should do a recall on this item or at least pay for the repair. I googled this problem and there are other users experiencing the same situation. It is a costly item and I expected better workmanship.
