The product, in the report: Epson Perfection V330 Photo scanner A/C adapter black

This scanner is used in a home office and for genealogy work. I needed to use it recently and it would not turn on. I unplugged the adapter from the electrical outlet and from the back of the scanner. I noticed that the end of the adapter that fits into the scanner was disfigured. Upon further inspection, I discovered that the plastic around this end of the adapter was melted. When I tried to plug it back into the port of the scanner, it would not fit properly. I looked online for information and found that there was a recall from Epson on my scanner’s adapter.

The barrel plug on the power supply (where it connects to the printer) shorted out and melted both the barrel plug on the end of the power supply as well as the receptacle/jack on the scanner itself. This happened while the scanner was off and I only discovered it when I went to use the scanner one day and it would not turn on.

The product, in the report: Epson model#J232C, SERIAL # RYTW035441.

I have a Epson scanner model# J232C, Serial #RYTW035441. I purchased this product over 4 years ago. In June of 2019 I found the power cord adapter burned up causing smoke in my home office and damaging the scanner. At first I didn’t think much of it, other then it’s past it’s warranty period and old. So I trashed it. Come to find out today 1/15/2020 that the scanner is under recall from Epson company through a email. I registered the product so that’s how they know my unit was defective. I called them and they said since I through the old scanner way back in June, they cant help me replace it. Only thing they can do is give me a 15% discount on a replacement. This is not a fair deal for the customer who din’t do anything wrong for the product to start on fire.
