As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Laminator

We purchased a Black & Decker laminator (Model# LAM125FH) at the end of November 2016. It began to make strange noises a few weeks ago, and this morning when I plugged it in and turned it on, smoke began pouring out of it and there were countless popping noises and a distinct smell of burning electronics. We turned it off and unplugged it, but it continued to crackle and smoke for another 10 minutes. I went back to the amazon purchase and although the reviews had been positive at first, now more than half were one star reviews, with many people complaining of their laminators also smoking and/or burning up completely. If this defect has been so common in less than a year, we feel that it poses a serious fire hazard for people, and Black & Decker should be made to improve the quality of their products and require more thorough safety inspections.
