The reports, as CPSC published them
Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.
Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Shredder
The consumer indicates that his paper shredder constantly trips his breaker, which means it is short-circuiting. The consumer believes the unit poses an electrocution and fire hazard.
The consumer contacted the manufacturer and was offered a replacement shredder if he sent his back. Because he no longer feels it is a safe product, the consumer asked for a refund instead but his request was denied.
The consumer states that this is a replacement shredder of an original one that had screws loosening within thirty days so it was replaced by the manufacturer.
The consumer notes that the current unit was only used once.
The consumer plans on keeping his shredder for at least the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.

No one hurt Made Jan 11, 2015, sent to the company Jan 30, 2015, published by CPSC Feb 13, 2015
The product, in the report: Paper shredder
I have an Aurora paper shredder Model: AS1019CS Serial: ADG1019013635 that was bought in December 2007. On September 20, 2014, after being gone for about 8 hours, I came home to find my paper shredder running on its own. I instantly could smell a “burnt wiring” smell when I came into the house. As I approached the room where the shredder was located I could see the room filled with smoke and smoke pouring out of the top of unit. I quickly turned off unit with the switch and unplugged it. Since I was gone, I have no idea how long the shredder was running on its own. For two days I could smell this smell of “burnt wiring” throughout the house before it finally dissipated.
The power switch was in the “auto” mode which I always had it. In reading the manual it talks about not running the shredder for more then 10 minutes to prevent it from overheating. However it also talks about a safety thermal overload switch that will shut the power off if it does overheat. Obviously, this safety thermal switch did not work on my unit and nearly caused a fire.
