The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch, Blue (this is NOT the DX model)

My son (age 5) wore his V Tech Kidizoom Smartwatch (color blue) to bed on 12/21/15 and woke up with a large red mark on the top of his wrist. He complained that it hurt and I thought it was just a pressure mark that would fade over the day. However, by the morning of 12/22/15 the mark had blistered (2nd degree burn) and we noticed two more slightly less red marks on the under side of his wrist. We have photographs of the burn. This was reported to Toys R Us (where I purchased the watch) and to V Tech, both on 12/28/15. My son does not have allergies.

The product, in the report: Gaming toy

The caller stated that while her 3 year old was playing with the hand held gaming system the keyboard pinched her finger and stomach when she closed it. This incident has left blood blisters on the child finger tips, she was playing with it for 2 consecutive days. She did not receive medical attention.

(11/5/13) The manufacturer was contacted and she was informed that she could return the product to receive another product and that they have never received any reports on the product.

The caller feels that this toy is unsafe and should be reported.

The product is not involved in a recall.

The product, in the report: VReader E-book Reader Manufacturer Part Number: 80115610 With FLiP Animated E-Book Reader children will discover the joy of reading while seeing well-loved characters like [REDACTED] in stories with vivid animations. While reading the story and playing eight reading games, children develop the necessary building blocks to grow from a pre-reader to a confident and fluent reader. Cartridges are age graded for 3 to 5 year-olds and 5 to 7 year-olds. Each story cartridge includes a fully narrated and animated story, 8 reading-skill games and a Story Dictionary.

My child was using his vTech v.Reader (first generation product) and while holding the device got his hand/wrist caught in the opening on the front “window” of product. There was no injury except for mild bruising and panic when his hand/wrist got stuck. He’s had this product for two years and this is the first incident.

I am concerned this will happen to another child but with more serious injuries.
