The product, in the report: GPS portable car GPS
I have a TomTom 1 3rd edition. I do not use it a lot. It is kept in a case and stored in my house most of the time. I was on a trip 11-14-12 and was using it. All of a sudden the power cord that connected to my car started to smoke and the car was filled with the smoke in a matter of a minute. If I had not been the the car and had left it plugged to go to the ladies room or to eat my car would have burnt up. I have a newer car so that could not have been the problem. I contacted the TomTom company and the sent me a e-mail saying if it was still under warranty they would send me a new power cord. It is not still under warranty but the issue is does this happen to other people and why isn’t something done. My device is like brand new and I see how other people use theirs (always plugged in) Someone is going to get hurt.
