The product, in the report: Seagate 8tb Harddrive External hard drive Model https://www.costco.com/seagate-backup-plus-hub-8tb-desktop-h

I got a external hard drive from Costco https://www.costco.com/seagate-backup-plus-hub-8tb-desktop-hard-drive-with-rescue-data-recovery-services.product.100458004.html

The device I got stopped working and I was sent a similar hard drive from Seagate. The power cord for the Costco version was cheaper looking and did not match what the instruction booklet showed or what came with the Newer device.

They said I could try the power supply from the new one on the old one as well as the other cord. Well it seemed to work sort of, it made the device found noise and then the disconnected noise a few ties then stopped - I think it connected and powered on but the light was flashing (normally it is solid white) and then it Sparked and I think caught fire I disconnected the power as soon as it sparked THANKFULLY I was looking at it when this happen or who knows what might have happen.

It Flashed Flames, i think all my data is lost so the Device is defective and possibly dangerous.

I have an external hard drive to back up my laptop. This external hard drive was purchased from the Apple Store. Once I have received the product and graded onto the edges, I cut my finger. The edges on the hard drive were cut to provide a design which left a sharp edge like a kitchen knife.

I have reached out to Apple and they said this is a 3rd party device and need to reach out to the company of Seagate Technologies (seagate.com). I have reached out to Seagate and they have not responded back. All I asked was to get a cover to fit over the external hard drive, like they have on other products they offer.

Seagate should be responsible for sustainable injuries accused from their product.

The product, in the report: Seagate ExpansSerial Number: 2GHL4DQS Model Number: ST315005EXA101-RK Seagate expansion ion 1.5 GB external Hard Drive

Serial Number: 2GHL4DQS Model Number: ST315005EXA101-RK

I have had trouble with this Seagate external 1.5 GB expansion hard drive since I got it. Let me explain a bit about myself. I think that it is relevant. I am a totally, permanently, crippled, purple heart Vietnam “COMBAT” veterans. That seriously limits how fast I can react to a crisis. And I surely might have had one because of this product. I was lying in bed. My computer was on and the external Seagate was active. I started to smell something. It smelled like excessive heat. My PTSD kicked in and I went nuts trying to find out what it was. I narrowed it down to the Seagate expansion drive. I picked it up and had to drop it because it was so hot. I unplugged it, but the smell was getting worse. I got singed but got off the top of the case and tried to take out the hard drive. That hard drive was hot, hot, hot. I could not get it out of the case. With kitchen pot holders, I took it outside. I was afraid it would burst into flames. If I had taken my medications, I would usually been asleep. And I might not have smelled it and it most likely would have set my home on fire and left me dead. When the hard drive had cooled down enough, I took it out of the case. It was fried, dead. I thank my higher power, that I did not get killed and still have a mobile home live in. I don’t mean to put words in your mouth, but I have heard it before, if I weren’t so disabled, I would have been able to smell it even if I were asleep or in another room, so it is not entirely the product that was at fault. But what if, someone has one of these defective hard drives and goes out in their yard? They might not smell it in time and their house could burn down. From what I have heard, it can take you a year or more to intervene, but The Seagate 1.5 expansion external hard drive in anyone’s home could lead to terrible consequences. I mean people, including kids, could die in a fire because of this product. Please, for the safety of us and our children, please get this defective product off the market and out of people’s homes, businesses, etc. This incident and trying to deal with Seagate has worn me down so terribly. I am scared, please help me and all of the others who are at high risk and don’t even know it.

    Sincerely

    [REDACTED] scared disabled war veteran
