Hurt, no treatment Made Feb 17, 2026, sent to the company Feb 20, 2026, published by CPSC Mar 6, 2026
The product, in the report: 49” Viewfinity S95UC Dual QHD 1000R Curved Monitor with HDMI and USB-C
On January 17, 2026, while I was sitting directly in front of my Samsung 49” S9 monitor performing standard work tasks, the unit emitted a loud, sharp “popping” sound. Immediately following this sound, a large vertical crack appeared across the screen, originating from the top-center of the panel. There was absolutely no physical contact or external impact with the device at the time of the failure. A subsequent on-site inspection by a technician from HSN on February 17, 2026, confirmed that there is no evidence of external physical damage or an impact point. This appears to be a spontaneous structural failure of the curved panel, possibly due to internal tension or thermal stress. The sudden “pop” and resulting glass failure while in close proximity to the user represents a significant safety concern. Samsung has repeatedly denied warranty coverage by mischaracterizing this as “physical damage” despite their own technician’s contradictory findings.

Seen by a doctor or nurse Made Sep 19, 2025, sent to the company Sep 24, 2025, published by CPSC Nov 20, 2025
The product, in the report: Samsung watch ultra 2025 47mm blue 64Gb
I purchased a Samsung Galaxy Watch and, during normal daily use, I suffered a burn injury on my wrist. This was not an allergic reaction but a slow burn that developed over time. I did not feel it until the damage had already occurred, leaving a visible burn mark.
The watch was worn on my wrist as intended. I was the one using it. The burn occurred on the skin directly under the back of the watch, where the sensors/ charging area make contact.
I sent the watch to Samsung for inspection, but they told me they found no problem and returned it to me. Despite that, I have photos of the burn injury and the device, as well as Samsung’s written response. This is a safety concern because the watch caused a burn during normal use, and it may pose a risk to other consumers

The product, in the report: Samsung Galaxy S10FE 5G tablet and tablet cover
Product: Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE 5G with official Samsung magnetic keyboard case (purchased through T-Mobile, a few months before incident).
Date of Incident: Saturday, July 19, 2025 (evening).
Incident Description:
Tablet detached unexpectedly from official Samsung magnetic keyboard case.
Device struck me in the mouth with significant force.
Resulting injuries:
Broken/chipped front tooth (permanent damage).
Cuts to inside of upper and lower lips.
Headache and radiating pain through nasal bone and into upper molars, lasting several weeks.
Additional damage: Privacy screen protector cracked badly (tablet glass intact, but protector now unusable and must be replaced).

No incident, no one hurt Made Mar 22, 2025, sent to the company Mar 26, 2025, published by CPSC Apr 9, 2025
The product, in the report: Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0” (2019), 32GB, Silver (Wi-Fi) with Bonus 32GB microSD Card
Last week I noticed that my samsung tablet had serious internal damage. Inspection indicates that it may be caused by a swelling of the internal battery. The batteries in these products are notoriously prone to fire and explosion, so I contacted Samsung to find out how to report the issue and return it to them for evaluation and safe disposal. After spending much of the morning on chat and phone, I was told that they had no way assist with a return for disposal, only for a (probably costly) rebuild. Since this seems to be a product defect, and thus could harm other owners of this product, I have decided to report the problem.

No one hurt Made Nov 8, 2023, sent to the company Nov 13, 2023, published by CPSC Nov 28, 2023
The product, in the report: Product: Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 Wi-Fi Grey
Samsung Galaxy Tablet A8 bought June 20, 2022 from Best Buy was charging with the charger provided by the manufacturer on a table free and clear of anything next to it when the tablet started to make a loud screeching noise and smoke coming out of the unit filling the room. My son who was sitting next to the tablet started screaming when the unit was screeching and smoke filling up the room. I ran in there and the smell was horrendous with thick smoke. I immediately unplugged the tablet, picked it up to throw it outside and the unit started to burn my hand in which I had immediately dropped and it burned and ruined my $2000 rug.
I immediately called Samsung and they had me ship in the tablet. A guy from Samsung corporate called me back after the so called investigation and told me that I was at fault which caused the fire cause there was damage to the tablet on the end where the charger connected to the tablet. I explained, that’s where the fire started when it was charging and the reason for damage. I asked to speak to someone else in which I was denied that right. I also asked for a written report of the investigation and was also denied any type of report being sent to me. Samsung shipped back the tablet to me with no further information from their investigation.

The product, in the report: It is a 2-in-1 laptop that folds into a tablet. The screen is 15” diagonal and the laptop itself is about a quarter inch thick.
I was using a Samsung GalaxyBook Pro 360 and it started smoking from the hinge, melting the plastic bezel and slightly burning my finger. It smoked for about 30 seconds and then stopped when the laptop shut off. I was in a college class when it happened.

The product, in the report: Samsung ATIV 13 inch Laptop. Model # NP915S3G-K04US
My Samsung laptop battery started swelling even without being in use to the point that I felt the case was about to crack from being overly stressed. When I opened the case I found that the right side of the battery is swollen and looks like a “ballon”. I understand that batteries can explode and/or cause fire when the chemicals inside then get to be unstable. I contacted Samsung through the live chat to report this issue (on 3/28/22) but customer service representative kept repeating that the laptop is out of warranty. I stressed to them that the laptop is operational but I have a safety concern. They opened a ticket and said they will get back to me. Ticket #[REDACTED]. I am concerned that they are not taking the matter s eriously from the response I received.

The product, in the report: Samsung Chromebook3, metallic gray color, 500C-13-K04, 11.06 inch screen UPC 0727620160
I was sitting at my dining room table working on my Samsung Laptop when all of a sudden, it started to smoke and rattle and hiss. I got up from the table and proceeded to toss it out onto my deck as it was appearing to be starting to explode. While there thankfully was no bodily harm, it did scorch my table and put me in a state of mental distress for the rest of the evening. My thoughts turned to the possibility of a child using this instrument on their lap and how they would surely have been badly injured. I want to report this to other folks that might be contemplating purchasing a laptop from Samsung to make sure they check the stability of their product. Primarily I want to press Samsung to investigate these inferior machines and find the root of the problem that made this incident occur.

The product, in the report: Samsung Syncmaster B2240 monitor
We had a fire incident In our house on June 24, 2021 afternoon. While I was away from work desk for walking our dog, the Samsung Syncmaster B2240 monitor got on fire. I immediately heard the smoke alarm. Luckily we had fire extinguisher. I called 911 for help. No one in the house is injured. But we are all going through mental trauma and afraid to leave the house or leave our dog alone. A day before this incident happened, the monitor was flickering and the next day while I was taking a break while working this happened. We have surge protectors throughout the house ,including for the monitor. I have placed incident report with Samsung. They have emailed me, but I wanted to reach out to you and get advice before I responded. Please let me know if you need any further information. Thx,

No one hurt Made Dec 1, 2018, sent to the company Feb 5, 2019, published by CPSC Feb 21, 2019
The product, in the report: Samsung 860 EVO 1 TB Solid State Drive
I ordered a Samsung 860 EVO Solid State Drive to replace an exiting hard drive in my PC. The drive was installed, using the existing SATA power and Serial ATA connector. Shortly after the PC was turned on, the drive caught on fire damaging the entire PC. Had I not been around when the fire happened, it could have burned my entire house down. This is a serious safety issue that needs to be addressed by the manufacturer.
My other issue is who pays for the damage to the PC? How do I even begin to estimate the loss of data and what impact tat will have? I would estimate the hardware damage to be at least $1600 - which is not nearly as big of a deal as the damage to the drives in the PC. The resulting loss of data is catastrophic to me. Years of recordings of music including at least 35 entire songs that were recorded and stored on that PC are now lost forever.
The drive was intended to be used as a backup to the other drives, in case of data loss. now I am looking at total data loss.
As a musician who has been recording for 30+ years the loss of my music is completely heart breaking. No amount of compensation could ever be determined that would be fair for this loss.

The product, in the report: Samsung Galaxy S6 phone charging cord (charging cord only)
Good afternoon:
At 1246pm this date North Bay Fire Crews attended a home on [REDACTED] and discovered that a cell phone charging cord experienced an electrical failure & began to burn. (see photos attached)
The cell phone charging cord was plugged into a ‘power bar’ and the power bar was plugged into a living room electrical outlet, however the cord was not plugged into the SAMSUNG Galaxy S6 cell phone. The end of the cord was simply laying on the hardwood floor.
The homeowner stated that the cord was always plugged into the power bar. The homeowner detected the smell of ‘electrical burning’ & discovered that the end of the cord was disfigured with obvious signs of burning & contacted North Bay Fire Dispatch.
The burning process left a small deposit of white plastic on the hardwood floor.
Had the cord been resting on the couch the result may have been the production of an open flame.
The cause of the incident is attributed to an electrical defect within the device.

The product, in the report: Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 tablet computer Model: SM-T230NU S/N: RF2F502RQFL, 8GB
Earlier this month, I noticed that my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 tablet computer became ‘swollen’. The front glass is bulging so that the edges of the glass are exposed, and the back of the case is bulging outward, like a smooth lump. The tablet got warm while I was using it. I’m concerned that the tablet will explode or catch on fire, so I’m keeping it unplugged in a metal container away from flammable materials until I figure out how to safely dispose of it. I do not want to place it in the trash or give it to an electronics collection place, because I don’t know if they will handle it properly in case it might explode or catch fire. I’m concerned that other people might have this product, and there might be a risk of explosion or fire.

The product, in the report: Samsung 4 tablet
I have a Samsung tablet 4 M/N SM-1237P DEC 256691545703735912 It was obtained through Sprint in July of 2015. The tablet is left in a dry, clean office environment plugged in most of the time and used less that 2 hours a week. I picked it up to use yesterday and it was warm to the touch but not hot and I noticed it had developed a bulge in the back of the case and the screen had started to lift off. I contacted both Sprint and Samsung and they say there is no defect although the manufacturing is in the same timeframe as the [REDACTED] phones that were catching on fire so I am thinking it is the same issue and the same action needs to be taken

The product, in the report: Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4
I’ve had battery problems with this tablet since shortly after my warranty ran out. When I called about getting it fixed, the call center told me I had to give them a credit card with almost $400 clear on it to fix it. That’s more than the cost to replace it. So I just plugged it in when I needed it. The tablet was not plugged in at the time of the incident, and had not been plugged in or used for over a month.
I just happened to be sitting near the tablet when I heard a loud “POP!” like a small firecracker that made my ear ring. I looked around and found the tablet had burst open and the battery looked like a balloon. I placed it outside on concrete just in case it caught fire and that’s where it’s been ever since.

This morning my Galaxy Tab 2 (GT P3113) caught fire while charging. I was in another room and heard what was literary a small explosion. When I went into the garage where it was charging the tablet was on fire, the plactic table it was setting on was also on fire. If no one had been home or we were sleeping there is no doubt in my mind that the house would have caught on fire. The flames were inches away from some carpet, cardboard boxes and a wooden workbench, which was scorched. I did report it to Samsung as soon as the fire was extinguished and a report was taken. Someone was suppose to return my call within 4 hours to get more specifics. About 10 hours later I did get a call from Samsung but the call was dropped after I pressed 1 to connect the call on Samsungs phone menu. I own 3 Samsung tablets (now 2) and a Samsung phone, now afraid to plug in any of them to charge. I just need to understand why or how this could happen. I just spoke with technical support and they didn’t really have any answers. This could have had a tragic ending with my 82 year old mother in the house and her 3 dogs. Though there was little damage and no injury, yes, I am extremely upset. I have now sent 3 emails to Samsung with an explanation of what happened and pictures. The first one no one replied to, the second and third were undeliverable.

The product, in the report: Samsung HD Monitor with Stand.
My wife pressed the power button (rocker switch) on her monitor (plugged in to the same surge protector as the computer), and immediately she heard loud cracks and saw visible smoke. It took her several minutes to unplug the monitor (hard to reach placement). She breathed in the smoke which was acrid (my term), in the time it took to unplug the unit. She described the smoke as “toxic smelling.” She then woke me at 09:00 (we are both retired). I could still smell the smoke--we open the window.
I immediately called Samsung. This unit had been repaired before on 2-10-2011 for a power board failure, while still under warranty). They returned my call today asking if anyone was injured. I said I didn’t know, not knowing what was in the smoke. I said this appears to be the same problem as before; I stating it appears to be a a power board failure. The representative, [REDACTED] from the “Executive Customer Relations Department for Samsung in South Carolina” stated that since my unit was no longer under warranty, I would be charged to fix it. I stated it was not fixed properly under warranty, or that inexpensive parts had been used in the repair, as again this is power board related. I requested to speak to his supervisor. I have a concerned for my wife’s exposure to “the toxic smell” emanating from the monitor.

The product, in the report: Samsung Chronos 7 Laptop, Model# NP780Z5E-S01UB, Serial Number: JA3691HD202625N
Samsung NP780Z5E-201UB, Serial# JA3691HD202625N suddenly became extremely hot, with the smell of melting plastic.
Unplugged unit, let it cool down and inspected after cooling. Unit became hot enough to warp/melt the lower case housing, and upper case housing/keyboard/touchpad.
Had the product overheating not been noticed by someone nearby, we are certain that a fire (and certainly a burn to anyone using it) would have occurred.
This problem is unsafe, and consumers should be warned of the potential, so as to prevent others from the potential of fire or burns.

The product, in the report: Samsung galaxy tablet model gt-p7310ma
My 11 year old daughter unplugged the usb charging cord from a samsung galaxy tablet computer that is approximately 4 years old. She started to cry as she was burned/ electrocuted. I handled the cord and was also burned. The rubber at the end of the cord where it plugs into the device had suddenly come apart which exposed metal wiring. There had been no signs of wear on the cord prior to the incident which makes this a risk. The injuries were minor as to not require medical attention however the shock was serious. It also poses a likely fire risk. I contacted samsung but they are disinterested. The part is inexpensive to replace. I proposed to them the product is defective because of the nature of its failure and the cheap rubber failure to expose metal wiring is dangerous. some wiring has an interwire that is made of the stronger more common plastic wiring. Also fiber optic type of wiring. I proposed to them they recall the product as ive never had any other plug fail in that manner on any small device including cheap cell phones. The part is available for less than $5 but this is truly a dangerous part due to its inferior quality. I have a photo of the cord and can send it to you as well. the cord was a bit melted where it came apart. perhaps I can email the picture, couldn’t get it to upload.

The product, in the report: Samsung ultra book computer
My daughter was using and charging her computer on May 04, 2013 when she smelled what would appear to be burning wires. Upon investigation, she discovered that the smell was coming from her computer. The wires in the charger were smoking. When she removed the charger from the computer, a plastic piece of the charger had melted into the computer and damaged it to the point that it could not be recharged. We returned the computer to Samsung and are waiting on them to repair it.
