Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Dec 7, 2024, sent to the company Dec 11, 2024, published by CPSC Dec 27, 2024

The product, in the report: This is the description from Amazon: “CFexpress Type B Card Reader,USB4.0 40Gbps CF Express Cards Type B Reader Supports Ultra Transfer Speed and Large Data Storage, Metal Portable CFexpress Type B Adapter for Filmmakers, Photographers Visit the Rocketek Store”

Rocketek CFexpress Type B Card Reader, USB4.0 40Gbps CF Express Cards Type B Reader

Used this card reader to download 128Gb card. Went to pick it up to remove the card and I received bad burns on two fingers due to the extremely hot surfaces of the card reader. Burns were so bad that they blistered. The manufacturer stated that the card reader can get hot when in use and that “This is normal”. However, they do not state that it will heat up almost to the level of an electric range burner. I will be throwing this out to avoid further burns and a possible fire.

The product, in the report: Rocketek USB Dock Product Title at Amazon.com: [REDACTED] Dock for [REDACTED] USB Hub Docking Station with Gigabit Ethernet, 4K HDMI VGA DP Display, 3xUSB 3.0, Audio Out, USB C, SD/TF Card Slot Combo Dock Only for [REDACTED] Model RT-SH701-JP

I used a USB dock manufactured by Rocketek for my [REDACTED]. The dock was purchased as an accessory to connect the laptop ([REDACTED]) and two monitors. When the dock was connected to the laptop, it damaged the computer by short-circuiting the computer. If the USB dock is a safe product, I believe that it should have an internally engineered tool to avoid potentially withdrawing too much current. As this product failed to meet the safety of electric current, my computer was damaged. Luckily, no one was harmed and there wasn’t any fire. However, this product may cause a different incident due to the faulty design.
