The product, in the report: Orsen LCD Writing Tablet - Blue
We ordered an “Orsen LCD writing tablet” which was marketed on Amazon’s website as an educational gift for young children, the exact type of product ordered by and for families with multi-child households.
We did not know and had no reason to know that the toy’s battery compartment could easily come open, revealing a lithium button battery that could just as easily fall out. Such lithium button batteries pose a severe risk to young children such as our daughter if swallowed.
On or about December 1, 2020, the toy’s battery compartment opened and exposed the button battery. Our 1 and ½ year old daughter ingested the battery, which became lodged in her esophagus. She suffered severe burn injuries to her esophagus which resulted in great pain and suffering, invasive medical procedures, and increased the risk for infection, choking, speech difficulties, and respiratory issues.
