The product, in the report: Black in color electronic portable handheld gaming device approximately 3x7 in diameter.
Nintendo switch with lithium ion battery stored in my center console of my [REDACTED]. Nintendo switch was powered off, and not connected to a power source. Nintendo switch was in its stock configuration with no aftermarket modifications. The outside temperature was 57 degrees. Vehicle was tinted with dark 5% window tint. Vehicle was also secured by having all windows sealed in the up position and the doors were secured by being locked. Nintendo switch battery caught fire in my vehicle causing catastrophic damage to the interior of my brand new vehicle. My Law enforcement training and experience from investigating both fires and vehicle collisions among other investigative matters over a period of 12 years, determined that fire originated with the device itself from the concealed internal battery. The batteries of these devices developed and manufactured by Nintendo have a lithium ion battery. The identified Fire was concentrated at the device power supply plug due to concentrated and visual damaged area on the device indicating the fire started with the device. The device was located in the center console when the fire initiated. Same exact location indicates where fire originated and spread due to heavy and concentrated burn pattern and burn direction. Nintendo has previously stated concerns with the Nintendo switch battery to potentially cause fires due to manufacturer defects and failures as of late 2025. My vehicle is possibly a total loss due to this product. This vehicle has an estimated value new of $78,000.00.

The product, in the report: Black Nintendo Pro Controller
My Nintendo pro controller (HAC-013) became extremely hot to the touch in the bottom left corner where my son was holding it. Concerned the battery or some other part of it was overheating. We immediately powered it down. No injuries, but the plastic felt hot enough to cause a burn if handled too long.
