The product, in the report: iPad Pro,12.9-inch, 5th Gen,WiFi + Cell
In the early morning hours of October 8, 2025, my Apple iPad Pro severely overheated while it was not plugged in, charging, or covered. The device had been working normally the day before, and I had left it on a flat surface overnight.
Around 3:30 am, I smelled something burning. I picked up the device and immediately burned my hand from the heat. The iPad was extremely hot to the touch, hot enough to cause a visible burn. The screen also showed a distorted or warped shape near the bottom and has since stopped functioning completely.
The device was not exposed to water, physical damage, or external heat sources, and it had no previous issues. Apple Support has been contacted but refuses to provide resolution.
This incident presents a serious fire and burn hazard, and I am concerned that other consumers could experience similar overheating issues. I am reporting this for safety and accountability reasons and would like this case investigated as a potential product defect.
