The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Aug 10, 2026, sent to the company Aug 13, 2026, published by CPSC Aug 27, 2026

The product, in the report: Product Name: Google Pixel Watch 3 (45mm Case Size)Model/Style: Matte Black Aluminum Case with Obsidian Active BandProduct Dimensions: 45mm x 45mm x 12.3mmComponent Involved: Internal lithium-ion battery (420 mAh) and display assembly glue bond failure

While preparing to sleep, an audible sizzling noise was heard coming directly from the user’s wrist where the Google Pixel Watch 3 was being worn. Immediately following the sizzling noise, the internal heat and pressure caused the factory adhesive bond to melt completely, forcing the entire display assembly to physically pop off the watch housing. The screen glass itself remains completely flawless, uncracked, and pristine, proving that this assembly failure was caused entirely by an internal thermal battery event and not by external impact, dropping, or consumer damage. The manufacturer’s customer care team was contacted and provided with Google Case ID [REDACTED]. While the support agent explicitly acknowledged the physical safety risk by instructing that the device be stored away from flammable materials, the supervisor and specialist teams formally refused to process a safety exchange or take the hazardous unit back for failure analysis, citing only the expiration of the standard calendar warranty. The device remains a volatile hazard and is currently stored on a non-flammable surface clear of combustibles

  2. No incident, no one hurt

Made Jan 27, 2026, sent to the company Jan 30, 2026, published by CPSC Feb 18, 2026

The product, in the report: Product Name: Google Pixel Watch (1st Generation) - WiFi/[REDACTED] Model Manufacturer: Google LLC Device Type: Wearable Smartwatch with integrated rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery. Case Size: 41 mm

Product: Google Pixel Watch 1 Incident Date: January 3, 2026

    1. Incident Overview: On January 3, 2026, my Google Pixel Watch 1 experienced a thermal runaway event. The battery swelled catastrophically, detaching the screen and actively leaking a chemical fluid that later crystallized into toxic dust.

    2. Timeline of Negligence (24 Days):

Jan 11, 2026: I explicitly notified Google Support (Case ID [REDACTED]) that the battery had fractured the casing and was actively discharging fluid.

Jan 14, 2026: I updated Google that the leak had worsened and that, for safety, I was forced to seal the device in a plastic containment bag inside a bucket to prevent exposure to fumes.

Jan 14 Present: Despite my clear, documented warnings that the device was leaking and modified with a plastic barrier (which interferes with fire-safe packaging), Google Support has ignored the safety risks.

    3. Repeated Dangerous Instructions: Since notifying Google on Jan 14 that the device was sealed in a plastic bag, Google Support has instructed me to ship the device in this unsafe configuration on 3 separate occasions. Most recently, on Jan 26, Executive Support stated it was “safe to return,” completely ignoring that the plastic bag voids the safety rating of the shipping kit.

    4. Safety & Regulatory Violations:

Voiding of DOT-SP 20432: The “[REDACTED]” fire-suppression box Google provided requires the battery to be in direct contact with the liner. The ’[REDACTED]’ fire-suppression box Google provided requires the battery to be in direct contact with the liner. I cannot remove the device from my containment bag to place it in the liner because doing so would release hazardous toxic fumes into my home. By instructing me 3 times to ship the device while it is sealed in a plastic bag

49 CFR 173.185: It is illegal to transport damaged lithium batteries that are liable to produce a dangerous evolution of heat unless in fully compliant packaging. Googles advice to ship a “bagged” leaking battery violates this statute.

    5. Current Status: For 24 days, Google has effectively abandoned hazardous waste in my home. They have refused to authorize “Field Scrap” (local disposal) at the local facility, holding my refund hostage unless I agree to execute this illegal shipment.
