As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.
The reports, as CPSC published them
Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.
Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Gateway 14.1-inch FHD Ultra Slim Notebook Intel Core
The consumer explained that just 2 weeks after she purchased the laptop, she started having problems. First, it started getting too hot. After that, she thought it had a virus, so she took it to a technician and spent $179. He told her that it was not a virus, but it was a physical problem, and she had two options; one send it back to the company or use an external keyboard. She has been using an external keyboard, since she needs to use the computer. When she talked to the company, they just seemed worried about the warranty. They didn’t care that they are selling a laptop that can start a fire.
She found out that the laptop’s battery is highly dangerous and a lot of people have experienced a fire in their property, as well as the warehouse where a company had their laptops.
Two weeks ago, she realized that her laptop battery was swollen about a quarter inch bigger than usual.
She is worried that her computer will start a fire while she is using it, or even when she is not around and it could burn her house.
She wants the company to give her a refund so she can buy a new one, or, a replacement for another laptop that doesn’t have this kind of problem.

The product, in the report: GWTN141-10BK Gateway Laptop
Battery swelled after overheating on my Gateway GWTN141-10BK Laptop that I purchased sometime in 2022 from Wal-Mart. I see it appears to be an ongoing issue that they have not corrected/recalled. My laptop sat on a desk at work . It had slowly been cracking at the mousepad but when I was away on vacation and came back it was significantly worse. I was told that this could explode and to stop using imediatley from a friend that is a computer tech.

The product, in the report: Gateway laptop - Model GWTN141-10 - 14” intel I1135 - 16 GB ram - 512 GB ssd
2022 gateway laptop (Wal-Mart purchased Gateway Model GWTN141-10 Intel I1135g7)) has exhibited thermal overheating of battery since purchase(now about 14 months of intermittent use). Recently the case of the computer started bulging open indicating a battery issue. Upon inspection the battery is 2x-3x original size, meaning it is near catastrophic failure, and eventual thermal runaway fire. This PC is dangerous, and should be recalled. Lithium polymer Battery seems to have been manufactured to a lower standard, and has no external battery structure to contain it from further expansion like many computers. The computer has 330 hrs. of total on Time, initial thermal issues occurred even at 30 hrs. of initial use.) 3/1/2023 is when first symptom’s exhibited, 10/5/23 is when battery issue was officially confirmed.
