No one hurt Made Feb 7, 2017, sent to the company Mar 6, 2017, published by CPSC Mar 27, 2017
The product, in the report: Ematic 7” tablet battery swelled up - first the blue one then the pink one. Ematic will not do anything about it except want me to pay $50 for warranty to fix - but the stupid thing costs that much, and what makes them think the others will not have the same effect for the pink one did but worse for it is in pieces.
We have had 2 Ematic 7” tablets (1 blue - 1 pink) I bought for my kids. The first one to go was the blue one, I took photo’s and reported it to the company and they wanted me to pay $50 for my tablet was not insured and the warranty expired. The battery swelled up so much that the casing popped open. The second time was the pink one 6 months after the blue and it did the same thing except it went to pieces. I still have that one in the box - and Ematic does not want to deal with their product and the lack of safety due to the battery. I have all the communication from them from the 1st issue and will be happy to send them and the photos along with the 2nd tablet itself to show that Ematic needs to due something about their product.

No one hurt Made Sep 9, 2014, sent to the company Sep 17, 2014, published by CPSC Oct 8, 2014
The product, in the report: Ematic 10” we believe is was the exp8 in black
The tablet stopped charging about 6 mths ago so it has just sat on my husbands night stand with a magazine on top of it. Temperature of the room probably ranged 65-80 Degrees F. The other day he asked me if I have heard any crackling noises in the bedroom and I said no. Tonight he walks out of the bedroom holding the tablet with a shattered screen that is expanding in the middle. You can see inside and it looks like a silver aluminum pouch expanded like a balloon. He said he noticed his magazine had slid on the floor and that is how he saw the tablet.

Not said Made Apr 3, 2013, sent to the company Apr 11, 2013, published by CPSC Apr 25, 2013
The product, in the report: Ematic Genesis Android Tablet
This device was being used as per normal, when the screen under the top layer cracked, and bits broke off.. Obviously glass is dangerous, and if this device had been used by a child, and the glass pedruded out, they could get cut.
I have emailed ematic, who tell me this is a known issue..
