I bought a CloudKey Gen2 Plus from Ubiquiti Networks on 1 Jun 20. One of the reasons I bought it was the internal battery would allow the device to gracefully shutdown when power was lost. The device worked for a period of time. Last month (Sep 21) I unplugged the device to make some changes to my network and the device immediately shutdown, it did not gracefully shutdown. Upon investigation, a large number of users of the device were complaining on line of similar issues. A number of users had disassembled their devices and discovered Lithium Ion Battery pack had swollen. These are passively cooled devices which are tightly packed. The battery sits under the CPU which does get quite hot (upwards of 60C. I pulled my device apart and discovered that the batter had swollen as well.

This condition presents a significant safety hazard and these devices are meant to be left unattended. if the battery swells and ruptures it could cause a fire. After repeated inquiries Ubiquiti has yet to acknowledge this as an issue.
