Hurt, no treatment Made Oct 27, 2016, sent to the company Nov 4, 2016, published by CPSC Nov 21, 2016
The product, in the report: Beddit sleep tracker version 2 with Bluetooth Smart. A thin white plastic strip with a small plastic electronics enclosure at one end and a long USB cable for power. The Beddit attached to a mattress with adhesive tape and communicates sleep tracking information to a smartphone over Bluetooth.
At approximately 5am this morning I woke to find the cable of my Beddit sleep tracker smoldering with a bright red ember, having burnt a 2 inch diameter hole through my bed sheet and significantly charring my mattress. The cable quickly separated from the body of the device when I pulled lightly on it.
