The product, in the report: APC 500 back UPS this is a computer backup unit. It is 13 1/2 inches long 3 1/2 inches wide and 6 inches tall. It is white and weighs 10 pounds without the battery.
My computer (a [REDACTED]) and monitor were plugged into the APC 500 back-UPS unit. They were on for about 2 hours when I heard a buzzing sound looked down and saw flames coming out of the APC unit. Black smoke also came out. I unplugged computers and the APC 500 and was able to take the APC outside where it smoked for about 2 and 3 more minutes before subsiding. I waited a half an hour for it to cool and then remove the battery. There was no damage to the battery which was relatively new. 3 hours later you can still smell the burnt electrical smell from the APC unit.
