The product, in the report: Product: Amazfit Bip 5 Smartwatch Color: Black Model Number: A2215 Size: 1.91” display face, adjustable TPU wristband Purpose: This smartwatch is marketed for fitness tracking and health monitoring. It includes features like 24-hour heart rate monitoring, SpO2 tracking, GPS, [REDACTED] phone calls, and over 120 sports modes. The device connects to the Zepp app via [REDACTED] and is designed to be worn on the wrist daily for health insights and smart notifications.
Product Name: Amazfit Bip 5 Smartwatch (Model A2215) Manufacturer: Zepp Health (Huami) Where Purchased: Best Buy, Concord Mills, NC Date of Purchase: June 7, 2025 Date of Injury Onset: Around June 19, 2025
I developed two separate areas of skin irritation after wearing the Amazfit Bip 5 smartwatch for about 12 days. The first issue was on the underside of my wrist where the optical heart-rate sensor sits. It left a round red mark that looked like a mild burn and started to peel. The second reaction happened where the band touched my skin, and that spot became dry and flaky with some lingering irritation.
There wasnt a burning feeling, but both reactions showed up in the exact areas where the device was resting on my skin. The skin is still healing now.
I wore the watch during daily use, and I kept the band clean and dry. I didnt apply any chemicals or soaps, and the fit wasnt too tight. Ive since returned the product to Best Buy and stopped wearing it.
After looking into it, I found several online reviews and forum posts from other users who had similar issues. These included reports of rashes, red marks, and irritation under the sensors or from the watch bands, especially in the Amazfit Bip series.
Im submitting this report to document what happened in case it helps bring attention to a possible product safety concern.
