Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Aug 9, 2018, sent to the company Aug 17, 2018, published by CPSC Aug 31, 2018

The product, in the report: White VTech brand baby monitor. Parent unit. Module #DM223 S/N: XL200785288 FCC ID: EW780-0144-01 IC: 1135B-80014401

The baby monitor was being used for its indicated purpose. It was plugged in overnight as we were monitoring our baby. In the morning we went to unplug it and it was not working and was hot. Upon examining the parent unit we noticed the outside of the battery cover was melted. We pried open the cover, which was too damaged to open correctly, and found the battery and plastic areas of the interior of the device were melted. The monitor device was sitting on headboard of our bed, not exposed to any heat or extreme conditions. There were no injuries, we waited until the device had cooled before attempting to open it. I contacted the company who made this device expressing our concerns, but have received no response.
