The product, in the report: Verizon USB wall charger, model A36-524A. Black with Verizon name above USB port and red ring around face which lights when an piece of equipment is charging.

Verizon USB wall charger model A36-524A.

Had ipad on charge next to bed at night. About 30 minutes later my wife and I were awakened to the sound of one of the ipads constantly receiving, losing, and then receiving power from the charger. Charger was plugged into power strip with three other chargers one of which was the same Verizon model. All had ipads or iphones connected. All have been owned for at least a year. When I touched the charger for the ipad making the noise, it was extremely hot to the point of not being able to hold it. Covering my hand with a sock, I disconnected the charger from the surge suppressor. No other charger was hot, and neither was the surge suppressor.
