  1. No one hurt

Made Dec 23, 2021, sent to the company Jan 27, 2022, published by CPSC Feb 10, 2022

The product, in the report: home telephone base

12/13/2021: The box was on an office desk and one morning, the consumer noticed that the case had swollen from overheating. The consumer said that as time passed, the problem has gotten worse and the case seemed to expand. Damage was limited to the product and there were no injuries.

The product is connected to a surge protector and the consumer said she has several surge protectors around her home.

Same day, the consumer called the dealer, but was told that the warranty had expired. The consumer was also passed around to different representatives, but each one told they could not help her. The consumer was then referred to the manufacturer.

The consumer reported her concerns in the comments section of the manufacturer and dealer’s website. After that, the dealer’s rep’s contacted her and indicated that they were interested in trying to assist her with the issue. The consumer has had phone service with the dealer approximately 6 years. After talking to various manufacturer’s reps (several times since posting her comments), a rep finally said they could not do anything for her and advised her to purchase a replacement product at her expense.

NOTE: This product was a replacement the dealer advised her to purchase 1 1/2 years ago, because they upgraded their services. She paid $26 for this box, because she purchased it directly from the dealer. It would have cost more from a non-manufacturer. Without this box, the consumer would not have phone service.
