The product, in the report: Samsung S6 cell phone
Cell phone battery was fully charged. Approximately 10 minutes later, the battery charge was fully drained, and the phone was very hot to the touch. When my daughter attempted to plug it into a car charger, there was a “popping” sound and then the phone started to smoke. It became very hot, the phone melted the [REDACTED] box that it was in, the screen discolored and cracked. Once the unit cooled enough to touch again, I saw that the phone was cracked in multiple places from the heat damage. The battery had burned up inside the phone.
This happened while plugged into a power source. While it happened in a moving vehicle this time, my concern is that it could have happened while plugged in at home, in my child’s bedroom, while she was sleeping.
This was a Samsung S6 smart phone. It was purchased through Amazon in New condition on June 5, 2017.
