The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: The product is a black Mophie charging case for [REDACTED].

I had a Mophie charging case on my phone, and it was charging on a Mophie charging pad overnight. During the night, I woke up to the smell of smoke. The case had overheated during the night and melted and starting smoking. While trying to remove the phone from the case, the case’s battery fell onto the floor, where it burned a hole in the carpet.

The product, in the report: Mophie air pack for iPhone 6 Black

I purchased a mophie air pack charger case for my iPhone 6 from Amazon. The seller was Yellow Rivering. My purchase was about 4 weeks ago. I have used it since then and on Tuesday 12/22 while the phone (in the case) was on top of my gym bag, it spontaneously caught on fire and was shooting a torch like flame out the smal hole in the back and the charging port. I quickly removed my phone and after it smoked up the entire locker room, I ran cold water on it and the flames went out.

When I contacted Mophie, they tracked the serial and reviewed a photo I sent and confirmed it was a counterfeit product (misspelling on case, etc)

10 minutes later this bag with the phone in it would have been in the trunk one my car and then in my garage (just below my kids bedroom). This could have been a catastrophe!!!!

The product, in the report: Color black and dark pink

I woke at 3:30 am to feed my infant and smelled burning plastic. I picked up my phone and burned my finger on the cord where it connects to the mophie case. As I pulled the cord from the case it sparked and was melted. It came apart: half of the USB connection still melted into the case and half on the cord. This was the mophie juice pack plus. It was a replacement from the company from December 2012 because my first case broke after 11 months of use.
