The product, in the report: LG Lucid 2 Smart Phone Black
Below is a copy of the incident report sent to LG.com. My wife had this phone at work it was “on” but not being used. The phone had functioned fine up until the point where it over heated, it had not felt overly warm or hot. LG responded with an email stating that if we had any further issues with the device we could pay the shipping and send it to them for repair under warranty.
We opened an account with Verizon on 2/15/14 and two of our new phones were the LG Lucid 2. Yesterday (4/23/14) we charged one of the phones with the house charger that came with the phone (it is the only charger we use) it functioned fine for about half an hour then the phone became so hot we could hardly pick it up, the display was half lit and all the buttons were lit up. The phone is the: LG-VS87012A Device ID 990-001505143701 UPC 6 5281081522 2 Device Barcode IMEI 990001505143701 Serial Number MSN 312CYHE0482369 Build Number JZ054K 4G SIM Barcode ICCID 89148000000769469322.
So we took the phone back to Verizon and we were told that the battery went bad and they installed a new one. The phone seemed to work after we charged the battery over night (the battery showed a 2 percent charge when installed). I have two concerns; my First is with the phone getting that hot where nothing would function (it would not even shut off) I feel that it will shorten the life of the phone or may have damaged something inside that may not show up until after the warranty runs out, my Second is my daughter uses one of the phones if she should sit it on some of her home work papers and it has the same problem could it cause a fire? Your help with this issue would be appreciated thank you.
