The product, in the report: LG K30 CELL PHONE SIMPLE MOBILE IS THE CARRIER. BLACK. PURCHASED 8/2020
my lg k30 phone stopped working it only had a ? on the screen and wouldnt charge. I took it to the mobile repair store and the man told me the question mark was because the battery was faulty. so i brought the phone home and put on the desk , the next night i was sitting at my desk and picked up the phone to put it in the cupboard when i picked it up i noticed it was really warm and then all of the sudden it started smoking and snapping so i dropped it on the floor, the smoke was heavy and then it started to catch on fire so i kicked the phone toward the front door and the fire was getting worse so finally i got it out the door where i let it burn itself out. un believable how the phone did this . it ruined my brand new flooring that was put in only 2 months ago the burn is in the middle of the floor so to repair i have to take the flooring all the way out . this is a expense that i should have to pay for since the faulty phone was not my fault I’m lucky that I was home and it didn’t catch the entire home on fire. or that i didn’t get burned from it.

The product, in the report: smart cell phone LG G6 ThinQ
The consumer’s 6 year old grand daughter used the cell phone for approximately 45 minutes and stopped. The consumer noticed that the phone was burned on it’s plastic case. The case is grey (almost clear), but a portion on the top left side had turned a dark brown color. This area is where the volume controls are located. The damaged area is approximately 2” in length.
There were no injuries. There have never been any problems with this phone in the past.
The consumer called the manufacturer and left a voice message with them and is waiting for a response.

The product, in the report: LG “XCharge” SP320 cell phone LG “Stylo4”, LGQ710 cell phone
We purchased an LG “XCharge” SP320 cell phone in April 2018. In November 2019 we discovered that the cell phone had swollen due to expansion of the (non-removable) Li-ion battery. The device case is swollen to 13.3 mm thick at max, asymmetric; the screen is convexed out slightly, also. Thickness specification is 8.4 mm. We are very concerned about potential fire/explosion.
Device has been used in airplane mode on wifi as continuous monitor screen for front-door camera. We have, in our home, multiple other devices with Li batteries that are kept constantly plugged in to chargers. This includes 2 [REDACTED], 3 laptop, 4 [REDACTED], 2[REDACTED], & 1 [REDACTED] from [REDACTED]. The oldest are from 2006. All obviously have well-designed supervisory circuits that avoid overcharging, and have never swollen. This LG cell phone apparently has an unsafe charge supervisory circuit.
LG, the manufacturer denies responsibility as they have only one-year warranty. Yet other phone makers, including [REDACTED and [REDACTED, have several times extended specific warranties due to the inherent danger of explosion and fire. LG suggests sending it to them for repair, but I can not trust this dangerous condition to not recur. Also, please note that a second LG device (a “Stylo4”, LGQ710) is also showing signs of swelling, causing us to disconnect all LGs from charging at all from now on.

The phone is that bad its a fire hazard and needs to be pulled off the shelves so nobody gets hurt/ burned by this phone.

The product, in the report: LG Aristo 2
I was asleep and my cell phone was charging on my night table next to my bed. I woke up when I heard a loud popping sound. I looked over and my phone was shooting sparks and on fire. It looked like a book of matches catching fire. I jumped up and grabbed the nearest thing I could, my t-shirt and I started slapping it to put out the fire. Then I grabbed it and threw it outside. Then I cleared the room of smoke and looked at the damage done by the fire. I didn’t sleep the rest of the night.

The product, in the report: LG Harmony and LG FanFare 2
Two phones, needed replacing. Cricket did not follow their own policy. Spent money I should not have had to spend. I got an LG Harmony from an escalations vender named [REDACTED]. Within 6 months the phone died, I took it into the store and the guy took the battery out and put it back in, the phone would not turn on for him either. He took it over to the counter and while he was searching something the phone came on, but then it went off again. HE said yeah its bad you need another phone. HE said “it has no insurance so you cant use warranty” so I asked him what do I do? He said you will have to buy another phone. I was like WOW ok. SO I paid out 30 bucks for the phone and 25 for the upgrade even tho it was a DOWNGRADE from the phone I had brought in. I had this phone for about a month and it was getting too hot to use, I was charging it up and I went to hold it in my hand and the screen shattered near the earpiece was were it was getting too hot to handle. I tried to call cricket and got no results. I then called the store I bought it at and the manager said “well you have a warranty on your phones the phones warranty is for a year” I said wait if thats the case WHY didnt your sales rep tell me to call warranty and get it exchanged? He said I dont know. I said WHY didnt your sales rep ask me if I wanted insurance when I bought it. HE said I dont know. He took NO responsibility for this. SO NOW I have a LG Harmony that just up and DIED on me for no reason and a LG Fortune that shattered in my hand. WHen I called warranty they tried to tell me they dont normally honor warranty for batteries because they consider batteries an ACCESSORY...I said woah wait a minut..its not an accessory you cant even USE a phone without a battery. An accessory is something you buy to go WITH the phone..if you have NO battery the phone does not work. So I was put on hold and then hung up on. HOW does a company state a BATTERY is an accessory when YOU NEED the battery to have the PHONE function?? its not like headphones or a new back cover or anything that you dont really have to have to use the phone..its a BATTERY..something you NEED for the phone and comes WITH the phone..it dont make sense. SO now I have two phones and I shouldnt have had to buy the LG Fortune 2

The product, in the report: LG V20 (H918) mobile phone and stock charger, cable, and battery
Continuation of a prior incident (Report No. [REDACTED])
An LG phone (LG V20, H918), and its stock charger and cable malfunctioned causing the charging block to physically melt and become unusable.
I attempted to contact LG the day the incident happened and my claims went unresolved until opening a report with the CPSC via SaferProducts.gov.
As a resolution to this claim, LG offered to send a new phone, but under the caveat that I would need to first return the existing phone (that was showing no signs of damage) and then they would send a replacement. I let them know that with my current travel schedule, this was unacceptable. It is a business device, and going 2-3 weeks without a phone is not an option.
I told them they could either send me the new phone and/or new cable/charger/battery and that I could switch over to at a time that was convenient to me.
In the original report ([REDACTED]) LG commented that I did not want a new phone. I DID ask for a new phone, but their proposal was not reasonable and they were not willing to work with me on a intermediary resolution. Instead we agreed on just replacing the cable/charger/battery. On 14AUG LG shipped the new battery/cable/charger. As I was traveling, I didn’t receive it until 21AUG. The following week I was again out traveling, where I used the new cable/charger/battery and within 5 days, my phone became damaged. The cable melted the charging port on the phone. Now the phone will no longer charge and is non-functional. I was forced to purchase a new phone due to the damage. I contacted LG to inform them about the incident on 09SEPT and again on 18SEPT, but to date have not heard anything back. As the replacement parts that LG sent me have now caused further electrical damage, and I am unable to seek resolution with them directly, I am asking help from the CPSC to get this issue resolved.
Thank you

The product, in the report: LG G3 cell phone
I plugged my LG G3 cell phone into the charging cord it came with and left it on the counter. A short time later I began to smell an odd odor. I searched the house for the odor but l couldn’t locate the source, until I went to use my phone. As I attempted to unplug it I realized the charging cable was now melted to the case of the phone at the charging port. The phone was extremely hot and the case was slightly melted. The phone was still functioned but I was unable to charge it due to the port being destroyed. I sent the phone to LG to have it repaired under warranty as it was only 6 months old. LG is now telling me that because the phone has physical damage the warranty is voided. That makes no sense because the physical damage is due to a defect with the phone, unless they designed the phone the catch fire.

The product, in the report: Brand: LG Model: MS840 Sold exclusively via : MetroPCS Color: Black
I recently purchased a cell phone brand new(sealed). It is an LG MS840 . Within the first week, I had notice very intense overheating with the phone. I tried to take all steps to make sure it was not something I had downloaded on my phone that was causing this. After trying and checking all programs and applications, the problem still continued. The phone overheats mostly when charging, and also randomly when it is in my pocket. The heat of the phone gets so extreme at times, that I cant even hold it for more than a few seconds. I had tried to contact LG and they offered no help. I discovered via Google search that many other users like me have been experiencing the same issue. I believe this product has a defect within the battery sector. It is only a matter of time before someone gets hurt.
