I purchased a smartphone that, on first use, burned my eardrum and caused damage that led to an infection. the pain on using it was within 20 minutes of use and increased as I used it. As my father has recently died and other family issues have caused me to need to be on the phone for longer periods of time than per usual my ear is very painful. I had to be seen in Immediate care today at a cost of $20 and the treatment medication is nearly $65. the pain increased with use and over a week of pain led me to require treatment
