The product, in the report: Jitterbug Flip 2 cellular phone

The Jitterbug phone / Lively network of BestBuy was a danger to my father and others at the nursing home where he resides. A terrible incident occurred at the nursing home because of a dangerous Jitterbug phone. My father, age 85, requires full-time care. June 17, 2025 at about 9:30 p.m. he was holding the phone when he felt it get very hot. It was so hot that he dropped it onto the floor, where it loudly exploded. Hot pieces from the phone were expelled onto his comforter and at him. The bed and the floor began to smolder. Thick smoke poured from the burning melting phone. An aid saw this happen, assisted my father to get him out of the room away from the fire, and threw a wet towel on the phone. Other residents on the floor, all nonambulatory and many already in bed in the evening, were all evacuated from the wing. Staff called 911 and reported a fire. The fire department responded to the nursing home and cleared the nursing home wing of the smoke. The floor in my father’s room was deeply scorched, his bed singed. He’d only received the new phone the week before.
