First aid Made Sep 14, 2015, sent to the company Sep 22, 2015, published by CPSC Oct 14, 2015
The product, in the report: Htc One Remix smartphone
My husband’s HTC One Remix spontaneously shattered while nobody was touching it while eating at a restaurant around April 18th, 2015. He noticed the screen cracking because it was audible. Small shards of glass began shooting off the phone and the cracking continued for around 5 minutes. Both my husband and I ended up with glass slivers because of this. There were 4 people who saw this happen, including my husband and myself. I notified HTC and sent the screen to be repaired. After 2.5 months I finally got the phone back. Then, the phone shattered again on September 5th after being dropped. Again, the phone continued to crack for several minutes and shards began to shoot upward. I called the HTC corporate office to report the safety concern and express my irritation that the phone didn’t seem to have the shatter proof “gorilla glass”. The company didn’t seem to be concerned about selling an unsafe product, only that they couldn’t replace my phone with a different model or repair it under warranty. I repeated multiple times that we had been injured by the shattered glass and that it was unsafe to have in a household with children. I also emailed them photos of the most recent break, but due to file size, was unable to send the video I took of the first phone shattering.

The product, in the report: Charger model EMICUSBDTVL-F
I have a HTC Droid DNA cell phone from Verizon. I purchased the phone in December 2012. Since then I have had numerous problems with the charger. I have spoken to HTC and they are aware of the charger issues with this phone. I have been told to go to Verizon and get a new charger and they have shipped one out to me in the past as well. Two weeks ago I went into the Rancho Santa Margurate , Ca Verizon store because my current charger was not charging again. The charger they gave me was model # EMICUSBDTVL-F. Last night as my phone was charging on my night stand, I smelled smoke and saw the charger smoking and it caught FIRE.

No one hurt Made Jul 12, 2013, sent to the company Jul 22, 2013, published by CPSC Aug 5, 2013
The product, in the report: HTC ONE X
My HTC ONE X mobile phone got very hot this week and quickly drained a battery that was ¾ charged. This overheating of the battery has occurred at least 3 other times since May 24th 2012. Possibly more since I’ve noticed fast draining before when the phone was only on standby. No applications were running and there was no uploading or downloaded going on while the battery was hot! The battery is not “user” replaceable and since it was a few days out of manufacturer’s warranty, I had to use my Asurion warranty through AT&T to buy a new phone after being charged a $199 deductible. This battery inside the HTC One X is dangerous!

Seen by a doctor or nurse Made Mar 9, 2013, sent to the company Mar 19, 2013, published by CPSC Apr 2, 2013
The product, in the report: HTC Evo 4G Model# PC36100 MEID: [REDACTED]
On 3/7/2013 After a day of numerous static shocks when touching metal, I was talking on my HTC Evo 4G and at the moment I felt a static shock on my chin my phone screen sent out a higher than normal static discharge to my face and ear and the phone screen pulsed as though something inside pushed it out and it shattered and continued for a minute or so afterward to pop and snap and continue to show more breakages. Slivers of glass kept popping like popcorn popping off the screen. I now see how that same static charge can ignite and cause fire while pumping gas as I’ve heard so I always avoided using my phone while refueling, but never have I heard of it shattering a screen nor sending a shockwave of mild pain in someones ear from the glass explosion. Having a screen protector would have prevented the glass from cutting me and kept glass somewhat intact so others should be notified as well as exactly where I felt the static shock at the beginning is where the charging port is located at the bottom of the phone where my chin was located. Requiring cell phone companies to place a rubber cover that fits over those outlets whether located on the side (where fingers would touch when holding phone) or at the bottom would prevent this front happening. Just move rubber seal to charge and replace when not in use. Im surprised it did not fry the internal circuits but it had been acting strange a day or two prior where it would act up like someone was touching screen and I would have to restart phone in order to stop it or remove the battery if phone didnt respond. If lets say someone had it on speaker during a call and away from face or using it otherwise and had it in close proximety to their face the shattering and spraying of slivers of glass could easily damage a person’s eyes. I urge and beg you to look into this. Oddly, the glass seems to still keep showing more cracks than it did yesterday when it happened and once I was looking at it while I seen yet another cracked appear with a popping noise when it happened.
