  1. No one hurt

    Made Jun 18, 2020, sent to the company Jun 26, 2020, published by CPSC Jul 20, 2020

    The product, in the report: I turned in the defect device and the replacement device Lively mobile has not presented any heating issues yet, but I have not taken a flight since Nov. 2019 either.

    October 2019 Flight from [REDACTED]

    Wearing the health alert device, Great Call, on airplane flight and it became overheated while around my neck, which was quite alarming. I placed the device on the outside of my blouse but it took about a half hour to cool somewhat. Never did really cool down. There was electrical storms that the flight was traveling within for over an hour. I contacted Great Call via the manager of the retirement facility where I reside and he contacted Great Call to ask if this event was a common occurrence, which they really did not respond too but stated that the device has a lithium battery.

    [REDACTED] Nov 2019.

    I took another flight the next month and the same heating of the device occurred again , and there was an electrical storm event also.

    I now have a different Great Call device but have not been on a flight to “test it out”. My concern is that if I had stored my device into my checked luggage would it have been a possible fire hazard. It certainly was a health issue with it overheating both times.

    Can the device electronics be suspect to heart issues? Feels uncomfortable at times.

    The product, in the report: Great Call made a National Device called Great Call Lively Mobile Medical Alert for 911 help, fall detection fails, 911 fails, GPS fails, the entire device is defective and the company was fully aware of it

    I bought a New Great Call Lively Mobile Emergency Medical Device from the parent company of Best Buy, the Device which is called Great Call Lively Alert can locate you if your hurt or fall etc;

    The device is 100% defective and does not do anything they advertise or tell you when you buy it, as I did, the device is NOT water Proof, GPS does NOT work, 911 Does NOT work, its Fall Detection does NOT work , the device is all defective and the company when i called to report it did not work when i needed it. Told me that if “ I do not reprot the problems and defects” they will refund me my monies and give me a free Jitterbug device, and $1500.00 Dollars along with a Best Buy Gift Card to buy anything i wanted.

    BUT i must not report them nor tell anyone, today i learned they indeed have not only lied to thousands of people but said they already did a recall notice to over 900,000 customers ? i do not believe them.

    I still have the defective devices and was told I must return them with days or face legal actions, no one threatens me and get away with it so I’m suing the companies involved, Best Buy and Great Call i hope you all do something to protect the people

    The product, in the report: great call splash; The product is worn as a necklace.

    The consumer states the device is supposed to call Great Call when the person wearing the device falls on the floor but on 5/1/15 (approximately) the consumer’s husband fell and the device did not alert anyone. The consumer was in the house and heard her husband fall. When the consumer checked the device she noticed the device did not have battery. The consumer contacted the firm to inform them of the incident and the rep (name unknown) told the consumer that a technician will call her back. The consumer never received a call so she continued to call the firm about the issue and every time she was told that a technician would call her back but she would never get a call back.

    On 6/1/15 (approximately) the consumer called and spoke with a technician (name unknown) who informed her that the device exhausts the battery within 2-4 hours and that when the battery dies it will not detect a fall. The consumer was told she should turn off the fall detection feature when possible.

    The consumer contacted Amazon to return the device but she was told that she could not return it since it was past 30 days of her purchase date. On 9/27/15 the consumer contacted Walmart and informed them about the hazard with the device. The consumer was told she could return the device to Walmart.

    The consumer believes the device is dangerous and could cause someone to lose their life by failing to detect a fall. The consumer is upset that the firm falsely advertised the product.

    The consumer has been receiving nasty calls from a bill collector from Great Call. He wants her to pay another 24.50. The consumer asked if he had all the notes on the account. He indicated he did and the consumer said it was very clear that she had over paid. Has called 3 more times!
