The product, in the report: google nexus 4 Serial number is no longer legible after phone heated up.

Google Nexus 4 - Three probably related issues

The phone heats up to uncomfortable and unsafe temperatures. This typically occures when charging.

The charger has twice failed to charge the phone and instead heated to a pointed it could not be touched to unplug. I stopped using it after that.

The phone has a glass back which shattered for no apparent reason. The phone was not dropped etc. This appears to be a result of temperature changes, likely due to the excessive heat buildup within the phone then sudden cooling resulting from setting it on something such as a tile kitchen counter. My phone shattered on the way to a store. I set it in a bag (by itself and slightly padded - very non-stressing to the phone), went to the store, pulled it out and discovered I had several tiny shards of class embedded in my hand. After the glass phone backing shattered I looked up some Nexus issues online and found several cases of similar occurances. This appears to most commonly happen after a couple months use. This is also inline with the age of my phone when it shattered.
