The product, in the report: Blackview Cellphone
My 20-year-old son’s Blackview cellphone spontaneously caught fire last night (April 30, 2020).
It was sitting on the wood floor of his bedroom, unplugged and not being used (he was in the room using his desk computer), when the fire alarm in his room went off. He looked around the room and saw that the phone was on fire. The burning phone made a great deal of smoke in just a few moments, partially melting onto the floor and filling his room with smoke. Luckily, he was alert and threw the phone out the window onto the back lawn, then went outside to put out the flames. Our house was filled with smoke, so I am also concerned about the health effects of our exposure to the smoke.
If my son had been asleep at the time, with no fire alarm in his room, the phone fire could have killed him and everyone else in the house from either the smoke or the flames. The phone was in use until the day it caught fire, but this brand is clearly unsafe and potentially deadly, and should be recalled immediately.
