The product, in the report: ATT model 993 2-line telephone
I have an AT&T 993 2-line phone. I noticed smoke coming from the receiver and it was hot to the touch. I unplugged the phone and found that the receiver had melted on the outside near the ear piece. There was no other equipment near it. I called AT&T toll free number and they told me since it is more than a year old they could not replace it. I told them that I was not concerned about replacement I was concerned about safety. They gave me Ref # of [REDACTED] but never asked me to send the phone in. This concerns me and I thought that I should report it.
