How badly anyone was hurt

  • No one hurt 1 CPSC: Incident, No Injury

As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

The product, in the report: The Sirius BB2 is a boombox like device that is used with one of several Sirius XM transportable satellite radio receivers. This speaker dock operates on batteries or 110 volt ac. It is when the dock is plugged into the ac that it sets off sparks that could start a fire.

This is to notify you of an unsafe product sold by Sirius-XM Satellite Radion. The item in question is the model BB2 Speaker Dock. The speaker dock runs on 110v ac or battery power. In addition to energizing the speakers, it also powers one of many different Sirius-XM transportable satellite radio receivers, such as, but not limited to the Sirius-XM Lynx, the radio I use on my BB12 speaker Dock.

The safety issue, which is ongoing is that an electric spark flies from the plug every time the speaker dock is plugged into an electrical outlet. I have isolated the trouble to the Sirius-XM spekaer dock as this problem does not exist if I plug any other devices into the very same outlet.

It is of greatest urgency that anybody who owns a Sirius-XM BB2 speaker dock be aware of this issue and, if it exists to notify Sirius XM of this safety hazzard ASAP! Hopefully, Sirius-XM will recall defective units and repair or replace them at no charge to the customer as this is a safety issue which, if not corrected, could result in a fire.

Please note that your form requests a single static incident date. This is an ongoing problem. I own this dock since last March or April. Every time I plug it in, I see an electric spark, which could start a fire.
