The product, in the report: Regent Home Theater System Model HT-2004
Several years ago @ Christmas time, some friends of ours gave us a Regent Home Theater System Model HT-2004. Approx. 1-2 years later we started seeing smoke rise from the center speaker area of the unit. We asked where they bought it from and we went and got a replacement (identical). Today, while watching TV with the system on, we started smelling smoke and one of the rear speakers was making popping sounds. I went to the unit and smelled that the smoke was coming from it and turned it off and unplugged it. Since this is the second time it has happened to us, I am worried that this may cause a serious fire hazard to others who already have or will purchase this item. The remote is used to turn it off and on, however the unit has an on/off power switch in the back that is always on. Luckily we were home both times to catch it before it got out of control.
